One of the five Memphis police officers charged with brutally beating a black man to death took photos of his bloodied body and sent it to at least six people.
Newly released documents revealed the lengths of misconduct the Memphis police officers displayed after they stopped Tyre Nichols for allegedly driving recklessly - a claim for which no proof has been provided - before mercilessly pepper spraying him, tasing him, and then beating him to death when he tried to escape their assaults.
The files show that Officer Demetrius Haley - who first forced Nichols out of his car - shined a flashlight in his victims face after he had been handcuffed and propped limply against a squad car, then took a photo with his personal cellphone.
Haley then sent that image to six people, including a pair of police officers, department employee, and a civilian acquaintance.
The documents were part of a review of the violent arrest, which found the officers involved behaved in a 'blatantly unprofessional' manner, even 'bragging' about the beating after it took place.
By taking and distributing the photos, Haley blatantly violated police protocol requiring confidentiality in arrests.
It also flew in the face of rules prohibiting officers from using personal cellphones during interactions.
Those violations were the least of their infractions, however, which started when Nichols was forced out his car without being told why, or later that he was being arrested.

A couple of bad cops screw things up for all the others.
This is NOT fentanyl floyd and normal police procedure. Sadly, now if we note floyd died from his own actions, now the lefties will bring this up.
This seems to support the theory that Tyre was getting it on with one of the cops’ gal.
Talk about bad cops, this guy takes the cake.
Make a cop from a gangsta, he’ll still be a gangsta.
This looks more and more like a gangland hit.
Hope the reasons for this beating gets uncovered. Maybe its just very sadistic cops...but suspect that maybe the cops are crooked as well and had some other ulterior motive. Really think this needs an investigation.
It has been said here a number of times how incredibly violent Black culture is. And now it appears the Atlanta Police are not above this.
Or something like that. These guys need to fry.
I think the civilian acquaintance was his ex girlfriend and baby mama who was a Fed Ex driver like Nichols and was supposedly dating him.
It is starting to look more and more like the whole episode was premeditated
The chief of police involved in this so called scorpion squad ran a similar unit when she was in Atlanta. Called themselves Red Dog Unit, also disbanded after abuse. Sounds like a pattern. Why does she still have a job ?
Some of them being the people they paying for this hit
While they were beating him, I distinctly heard on the video someone say twice, “you know me, or I know you” (forget which)
theory that Tyre was getting it on with one of the cops’ gal”
Read that he was keeping company with an officer’s baby mama. That was not an ordinary traffic stop close to his mother’s house... they were after him for personal reason. It will all come out.
This was a personal vendetta. How the hell did they ever become officers?
Who wants to be a cop these days? So, they have to take whatever they can get.
Just posted on the story right after this post.
A former Memphis policeman called the local radio talk show.
He said Tyre had been sleeping with one of the officers’ baby mama.
It is not clear if she was a wife, former wife, girlfriend or former girlfriend.
Charges likely to be upgraded to first degree murder.
Oh and the policeman said the offenders spotted his car to pull him over.
Not that he had committed some sort of traffic violation.
He took the photo and sent it to his ex wife who apparently Nichols was banging..this was payback for that..this had nothing to do with a traffic stop or a citation, this was payback for Nichols sleeping with the ex wife of Officer Haley
