Aiden Fucci, now 16, entered the surprise plea on the day he was set to face trial for stabbing Tristyn Bailey 114 times and leaving her body in a wooded area near their community.
“I just want to say I plea guilty and I’m sorry for the Bailey family and my family,” Fucci said in a brief statement to the court Monday.
Fucci is being charged as an adult, and prosecutors stressed they did not offer him any leniency in sentencing as part of the plea agreement.
Bailey had been socializing with both Fucci and another classmate before the crime, and she was last captured on a surveillance camera in a local cul-de-sac around 1:45 a.m.
Her family reported her missing after she failed to appear for a Mother’s Day breakfast with her family later that morning.
Prosecutors and the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Department both stressed that Bailey, a popular local teenager in the normally tranquil neighborhood, had dozens of defensive wounds that indicated a violent struggle for her life.

He would be executed for this crime in a sane world.
My question is, why was a 13 year old girl out at 1:45 am?
My thoughts also.
Because “boys” and the perennial pubescent stupidity of young teens.
Fathers really need to talk to their daughters about men or boys who want you to be out past midnight do not have your best interest at heart.
Annother Fa(u)cci killing people?
OMG! He’s not a Dindu Nuffin!
He’s a Diddo Sumpin’
“why was a 13 year old girl out at 1:45 am?”
Do you not know any teenagers?
she may have snuck out. It happens.
“My question is, why was a 13 year old girl out at 1:45 am?”
That is one concept. Murdering a thirteen year old girl is another entirely different concept, and has nothing whatsoever to do with her being out late.
Just one question: What in hell is a 13 year old doing out at 1:45 in the morning?

While it was stupid, it did help when I joined the Marine Corps later. I did not realize how many people were sacred of walking through the woods at night, while by that time it was second nature to me.
Being lured to her death by a psychopath.
Do not let kids have their own phone or any internet capable electronics in their bedroom.
I had two of them, and they weren't out in the wee hours at that age. Trust me. My wife and I were both troublemakers as youngsters, so we knew all the tricks.
I'm sure being out late was a contributing factor. I'm not excusing the murderer, but being out anywhere at that time of night is to invite trouble.

I’d rather ask them and see what they say :)
“we knew all the tricks”
Maybe, but all parents have to sleep sometime.
