Monday open thread: Was the revamped Pro Bowl a success?

The 2023 Pro Bowl introduced a new format that eliminated the traditional tackle football all-star game that we’ve seen in years past. With players putting forth only a marginal effort and so many players opting out in the name of health and safety, the Pro Bowl simply hasn’t meant what it did in years past.

The NFL’s attempt at fixing this event featured skills challenges for several major position groups on Thursday night, then capped things off Sunday with three flag football games coached by the Manning brothers and a few more skills competitions.

Yesterday, Chris asked if you guys were fans of the new format. Now that we’ve seen the end result, did you think it was the right move?

Question of the day: Was the 2023 Pro Bowl a success?

They used to have the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Couldn't give the tickets away. The cool thing is a lot of the guys would come out to the North shore, get roaring drunk and try to learn how to surf swim.

Now that was free and worth the memories!

My God. The country and the Constitution are being destroyed as we watch and football, auto racing, basketball, etc. are timely topics? We are acquiring our chains the old-fashioned way: WE’RE EARNING THEM!
As is his custom, VICTOR DAVIS HANSON NAILS IT!!

“They used to have the Pro Bowl in Hawaii”

Yes and AFTER the superbowl. Moving it to before was a major blunder IMO.

Didn’t watch the old, un-revamped Pro Bowl, didn’t watch the new, revamped Pro Bowl either. If no one gets hurt in this completely meaningless game, I guess that counts as a success.

Here’s my idea for a ‘PRO Bowl’:

Make it animated, like the video games that look practically real nowadays, like Madden games.

Have each Pro-Bowler control his on-screen self with his own controller/body suit. That way nobody gets hurt and you get the ‘feeling’ of real football............................

The SCRUM would cause some players to lose it................

And Super Bowl players attended. It was a great paid vacation for players and their families. Ruined it by moving it where so many who made the Pro Bowl can’t play.

So you get subs like Carr who sucked.

Yeah, that is perplexing when someone told me about the game last night. I didn’t know if was f-ag football either. Maybe they should have used a nerf ball?

Gotta keep the big picture in mind. Short term bucks in exchange for long term disinterest translates to decreasing revenues.

“The only audience it was playing to was the gynocracy and to minorities.”

So it was exactly like everything else put on TV these days.
