The nation’s largest teachers union recommends that educators begin teaching the concepts of preferred personal pronouns and gender identity starting in pre-kindergarten.
"When you look at elementary school students, many people think they are too young to talk about pronouns,” said panelist Matthew Powell, a member of the National Education Association’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee, during a webinar last summer.
“However, by asking students their [preferred] pronouns at a young age,” Powell added, so-called education support professionals “can make room for students who may be exploring gender identity and show everyone [that] gender identity should not just be assumed.”
Saul Ramos, a high school teaching assistant on the panel, said during the teachers union’s event that schools should be a place of support for students whose parents don’t accept their gender identity.
“Our educators have a real, big interest in using the correct names and pronouns for students, because we all know once you do start using someone’s correct pronouns, statistically it has shown that the suicide rates dramatically drop,” Ramos said.
No evidence of a connection between failure to use preferred personal pronouns and youth suicide exists, Jay Greene, senior research fellow in The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Education Policy, told The Daily Signal. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s multimedia news organization.)
“The completely baseless suggestion that kids will kill themselves if teachers don’t use certain pronouns is essentially a form of extortion,” said Greene, author of a recent report on youth suicide and transgender medical treatments.

Before we can do that we need to get rid of Teacher Unions.
What do the parents of Pre-K students suggest?
“When you look at elementary school students, many people think they are too young to talk about pronouns,” said panelist Matthew Powell, a member of the National Education Association’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee, during a webinar last summer.”
Matthew needs a beat down along with everyone else on this “committee”.

And parents need to buy a sturdy rope and locate a lamp post for the teachers and union officials who push this crap.
And “Who in the Hell needs teacher’s unions?
Shouldn’t they be teaching correct pronouns instead?
"Panelist"? How about "pedophile"?
Is there anyone who still thinks schools are for teaching reading, writing and arithmetic?
Anyone who is not homeschooling yet should be aware that these monsters are out to program your kids and turn them into little perverts. They’re not even hiding it anymore.
Why would it be too expensive for most families to homeschool?
Every child needs to learn how to refer to me properly—I identify as Your Royal Highness.
We live deep in enemy occupied territory.
Conservative parents in this rural area have banded together to home school their kids—sharing time, resources, ideas—with the cooperation of local conservative churches.
Money is not the key issue—determination is. None of these folks have a lot of money.
There is nothing more important than determining who educates your children.
It is truly priceless.
“””Why would it be too expensive for most families to homeschool?”””
Just maybe, both parents are working at a job each day and one of them would have to quit their job to homeschool the kids.
For some, yes, both parents need to work..... But...Really....Is it really necessary for most? Really?
Here are some of the financial benefits of homeschooling.
1) Housing options are far greater. The quality of the schools no longer dictates where a family lives. That’s an opportunity for (possibly) hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings in taxes and mortgage payments.
2) Savings can be made in clothing. My children loved the thrifts shops and developed their unique sense of style. That was a savings.
3) A second car may not be needed given the availability of Uber and Lift thus enormous savings on car payments and insurance.
4) Little to no babysitting saves thousands upon thousands.
5) With used books readily available, the Internet, and public libraries curriculum is nearly free.
6) In our state online homeschooling through the government is free, and this includes free college courses. One of my grandchildren graduated from online college with an associates degree. His sisters are well on their way to graduation. All **free** to the child and parent. That is a savings of $60,000 !!
The women technicians in my husbands lab used to joke that they were working to support their husband’s hobbies and toys ( golf and boating were high on the list.)
I tracked it to:
Researchers interviewed transgender youths ages 15 to 21 and asked whether young people could use their chosen name at school, home, work and with friends. Compared with peers who could not use their chosen name in any context, young people who could use their name in all four areas experienced 71 percent fewer symptoms of severe depression, a 34 percent decrease in reported thoughts of suicide and a 65 percent decrease in suicidal attempts. Earlier research by Russell found that transgender youths report having suicidal thoughts at nearly twice the rate of their peers, with about 1 out of 3 transgender youths reporting considering suicide. In the new study, having even one context in which a chosen name could be used was associated with a 29 percent decrease in suicidal thoughts. The researchers controlled for personal characteristics and social support. - https://news.utexas.edu/2018/03/30/name-use-matters-for-transgender-youths-mental-health/
From: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0890856717303167?via%3Dihub Data were derived from the 2013 to 2015 California Healthy Kids Survey...Demographic characteristics are presented in Table 1. Across the full sample (CHKS), 1.33% of youth (n = 7,653) identified as transgender, and across the representative subsample (CSS), 1.10% of youth (n = 280) identified as transgender. Among transgender youth in the CSS, the mean age was 15.29 years (standard deviation 1.16), and 49.29% identified as heterosexual.
So the claim is based upon only about 1% of a group of 15 year-old Calif. youth (avg.), with half of these self-ID as heterosexual. Hardly conclusive, while any lifestyle that cannot endure being called by a name that they did not choose and is prone to suicide due to it, is not a lifestyle to be promoted.
