BALTIMORE, Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Fortress Monroe letter, dated yesterday, says that the rebels crossed the Blackwater on Friday. Gen. PECK immediately sent out a force, which met the rebels and drove them back, with some loss. Our loss was forty killed and wounded. We took some prisoners. At the last accounts the rebels were retreating toward Franklin.

THE NEWS RECEIVED IN WASHINGTON.

WASHINGTON, Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Star says that dispatches were received, to-day, from Gen. DIX, at Fortress Monroe, stating that, yesterday, Gen. PECK's force, or a portion of it, had an engagement with an opposing rebel force under Gen. PRYOR, near the Blackwater River, in North Carolina, resulting in the rout and defeat of the rebels, who had been driven six miles, and when the intelligence left, our victorious troops were still pursuing the rebels.

THE NEWS RECEIVED IN NEW-YORK.

The following is a dispatch to Judge DALY, from Quartermaster KIRKER of CORCORAN's Brigade:

SUFFOLK, Jan. 31, 1863.

Had a fight. Whipped PRYOR. General and officers all safe. JAMES B. KIRKER.

LIST OF CASUALTIES.

SUFFOLK, Va., Saturday, Jan. 31.

The Medical Director officially reports that our loss yesterday was as follows:

Sixth Massachusetts Volunteers -- Killed 3, wounded 9.

Thirteenth Indiana -- Wounded 12.

One Hundred and Twelfth New-York -- Killed 1, wounded 1.

One Hundred and Thirtieth New-York -- Killed 6, wounded 19.

Sixty-ninth New-York -- Killed 5, wounded 8.

Eleventh Pennsylvania Cavalry -- Killed 3, wounded 6.

One Hundred and Sixty-seventh Pennsylvania -- Wounded 8.

One Hundred and Sixty-fifth Pennsylvania -- Wounded 3.

Seventh Massachusetts Battery, Co. G -- Killed 2, wounded 6.

Fourth United States Artillery, Co. D -- Killed 4, wounded 8.

Total -- 24 killed, 80 wounded.
