TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Saying gun owners don’t need a government permission slip to protect their God-given rights, Florida’s House speaker proposed legislation Monday to eliminate concealed weapons permits, a move Democrats argue would make a state with a history of horrific mass shootings less safe.

Republican leaders, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, have expressed support for the idea, so the bill should not have a problem passing in a legislature with a GOP a super-majority.

Your driver’s license is your reciprocity when traveling to another state. Local law can run a check pretty quick.

Funny thing about this is that Florida, which led the way in terms of shall-issue concealed carry and other firearm-friendly policies, is way behind in this regard. I think half the states in the union have Constitutional Carry policies at this point.

Gun grabbers have been screaming “blood in the streets” since 1987 in Florida. They need to come up with a new lie.
Live in Kansas with Constitutional Carry but got the CCW anyway for travel. Family in Virginia and Michigan.

Apparently there is one GOP State Senator who heads a committee that is in charge of this area of permitting and absolutely will not allow a bill to come forward for Constitutional Carry.

He needs to go.

I’d like to be more knowledgeable regarding Florida legislature. Thank you for the comment, which I’ll look into.

People buy guns with no training or background checks already.

I would like to see Constitutional Carry and also retain the CCW. CCW allows one to take one’s gun o a state that has CCW and reciprocal agreement but not yet Open Carry.

AATF and its rules should be abolished as patently unConstitutional. The 2Amd does NOT make exceptions for weapons (arms) deemed too military to be allowed. Possession would be circumscribed by economic limits.

Good.

I’m glad to see a group of politicians, in this case Florida Republicans, enhancing the 2nd Amendment instead of trying to abolish it.

Make it optional. Most prefer concealed, others not. The Swiss and Israelis open carry.

You have to get those other states to codify that.

HUZZAH!

It is about the damn time our legislators recognized the Second Amendment to the US Constitution!

Constitutional Carry will put EVERY bad guy or gal on notice that they just might get shot back at!
