FTA; "Democrats immediately responded that the proposal could lead to more gun violence and accidents. They said that the bill supporters call constitutional carry will allow people to buy guns with no training or background checks."
Leave it to the useless idiots to not have a clue!

They can make it so residents dont need a permit in the state, but they will still want to make permits available for reciprocity with other states.

Florida’s tourism industry has been fighting this for years and years, since the days of State Attorney Janet Reno.

...the bill should not have a problem passing in a legislature with a GOP a super-majority.
I haven’t yet searched the FL legislature to determine bill’s status, but would be following this one.
Let’s see...

Could the Democrats be crazy enough to challenge this in Federal court? If so, it could reach the Supreme Court someday. What if the Supremes use this to overturn all permitting laws? Could they?

If Florida moves this way, will it make it harder for Floridians when they travel to other states. I SAY YES.
Right now it is like 35 states that reciprocate with Florida. That will end for many of them.

Texas has open carry and eliminated the CC permit requirement.

Admin Mod...Might have correct this title.
Kindly delete the phrase “open carry” from the parenthetical note in the title.
Thank you!
It appears this bill would NOT be for open carry, rather, it would merely eliminate the requirement for a CCW permit to carry concealed. While I hope we move to open carry, many prefer concealed.
Well...THAT’S a bummer.

Permits will still be available for those who want
to take advantage of reciprocity of other states.
You just don’t need to have one in-state.

a move Democrats argue would make a state with a history of horrific mass shootings less safe. So these mass shooters are permit holders?
"Democrats immediately responded that the proposal could lead to more gun violence and accidents.
Same argument they made when the permits were first instituted.
will allow people to buy guns with no training or background checks."
What does this have to do with purchases?

As we have in Kentucky.
We have Constitutional carry but my wife and daughter and I all have CCDW permits so we are covered elsewhere.

As I understand it, this constitutional carry law does not preclude your ability to get a CCW permit if desired. If you want to retain the rights to reciprocity in the states that permit it, having the certification keeps you eligible.

That would be in line with the 2nd, uh, you know, the thing. The ones that aren’t absolute. 😏👍

You can’t buy a gun from a gun dealer without a background check under Federal law. And why should you have to have training to exercise a right? Are there other rights that work like that? I think not!
