Joseph Kearns was born on February 12, 1907 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. He was an actor, known for Alice in Wonderland (1951), Dennis the Menace (1959) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). He died on February 17, 1962 in Los Angeles, California, USA

I know, I'm weird, but he did die suddenly in 1962, and was replaced by Gale Gordon, in the "Dennis the Menace" series.

Well anyway, Gloria Henry(Dennis's mother), lived to be 98..

I saw Dennis the Menace in re-runs in the early-mid 60s, and I thought that Mr. Finch the store owner was one of the oldest looking guys on TV. Charles Lane, who played Mr. Finch, was only about 55 at the time, but lived until 2007, dying at age 101 or 102.

I always thought Gale Gordon looked more like the “Mr. Wilson” from the comic strip than Joseph Kearns did.

He died only days after the first airing of the episode “Where there’s a will” in which Mr. Wilson decides to leave Dennis his gold watch in his will.
