PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood is known as an open air drug market.
"It is the biggest open air drug market on the East Coast. You literally can just walk up on a block and cop whatever substance you like," said James Sherman a former user who is now focused on street outreach with the nonprofit Savage Sisters Recovery.
Now, the area in North Philadelphia is at the center of the Tranq epidemic, hit hard by the emerging misuse of the animal tranquilizer Xylazine. The drug is leaving hundreds of users in Philadelphia with gruesome wounds that could lead to amputations....
...It is not just a Philadelphia problem. The DEA warns that the drug is leading to a major spike in overdose deaths across the nation. Officials say Tranq was first found in the drug supply in Puerto Rico and is mixed in with fentanyl to extend the high.
Tranq does not respond to overdose reversal drugs like Narcan...

Having had a Heroin addict family member and did our best to help her, I gave her a place to stay in our home. I understand. My cousin beat her problem, but many do not.

Xylazine reversal drug is called Yohimbine (Antagonil,Yobine).
I have no problem with the Darwinist tendencies of these druggies, but they should at least be corralled in a pen somewhere while they kill themselves — not on downtown streets…

One woman in our town had three Narcan reversed overdoses in one day. That is a lot of time for officers responding. They always send the firetruck with complete squad, and ambulance with at least 2 attendants.

Let me get this right. Consuming drugs of unknown composition obtained from ruthless, unaccountable criminals is risky. Who knew?

The problem with legalization is, they don’t live on a remote island. They live among us.
They have kids. They get pregnant. They have vulnerable people depending on them. They have neighbors subject to their apartments burning down. Kids who want to play in parks with needles and crap. Businessmen who don’t prosper with maniacs wandering the streets and into their stores all day. As part of society, we have a duty to remain sober. Desperate for money, even though it’s “cheaper if it’s legal” (not that I have seen), they will do anything from prostitution to any variety of theft or even violent behavior. Also, with no inhibitions they get violent easily and quickly.
Libertarians say wait until they commit the crime. Wait until they sell their child or spread STDS or break into the car or carjack or take your catalytic converter or your packages or your life.
But just like I support drunk driving laws (you are a menace and should not be driving, you don’t have to hit someone first) I support STRONG laws against drug use and even holding. It destroys the country.
Plus the vomiting syndrome that ERs see more and more of. That is obviously a physical reaction.
My thought as well
I don’t support testing on animals for the basic reason of biology, Give a dog cyanide and they get a case of painful horrendous gas and it won’t kill them.
