Two police officers are among the three people charged in connection with the beating of a homeless man in Florida last year. Both officers were removed from active duty before being fired from the department, police chief George Fuente said.
According to an affidavit, Hialeah Police Department officers Lorenzo Orfila and Rafael Otano were working an afternoon patrol shift together on Dec. 17, 2022, when they were dispatched to Los Tres Conejitos Bakery in a Hialeah shopping plaza. The two officers "made contact" with Jose Ortega Gutierrez, who was then handcuffed and put in the backseat of Orfila's police vehicle.
The affidavit notes that Orfilo and Otano did not arrest Gutierrez for "any violation of Florida State Statute and/or Miami-Dade County Ordinance." The officers' body cameras were not activated during the encounter.
Gutierrez was "transported ... against (his) will" to "an isolated and dark area," according to the affidavit. Gutierrez said that he was taken out of the vehicle, still handcuffed, and "punched and pushed onto the floor" by Orfila and Otano.
GPS data from the officers' vehicles confirmed that they took Guttierez to the location he claimed he had been assaulted, according to the affidavit. The route the GPS data showed them taking was also corroborated using surveillance video, the affidavit states. Neither officer logged the trip or the transportation of Guitierrez in their daily reports, which they would have been required to do, according to the affidavit.
Photos of Gutierrez taken after the incident showed lacerations and bruises on his body, including a black eye. According to the affidavit, Gutierrez said he fell unconscious and when he awoke, he was alone and uncuffed. He soon made contact with another person, who called the police, according to the affidavit.

> Coming soon, either the trash gets taken out or it will take you out. <
As I noted earlier, I take a gentle exception to your previous wording. But yes, you are correct here. Either the politicians get a handle on things, or this country will devolve into something like a medieval state. Some very nice and pleasant places. Some lawless places that must be avoided.
Unfortunately, I doubt if the politicians have the courage to get a handle on things. So that leaves only the other possibility.
Someone on another thread mentioned that it was a shame that the Mafia no longer runs the big cities. The Mafia vs. the urban thugs. Yes, that would have been interesting.
I believe in candor. The ‘homrless’ barrios look like a garbage dump, the ‘homeless’ smell and look like garbage. It is that simple.
“Are you drunk or a drunkard.”
Nope. Sober as the day is long.
So, now I ask you:
Are you a chronic masturbator or a pedophile?
See how that works?
Idiot.
I notice that YOU are not out beating people up. You just cheer on other people who abuse their authority.
Do you know what that makes you?
I just asked a question. I know of two combat vets that were homeless. And they were messed up, big-time. They generally didn’t bother anyone. I can’t say that prople didn’t go out of their way to bother them. Getting blown up, or killing a teenager, even in self-defense, wotks on people’s minds. Of the two that I know, one managed to find housing. The other died out in the woods. Prior to that, they were living in a park, trying to keep the kind of people you reference away, because they didn’t like them either. And those folks usually had no excuse other than drug and alconol abuse to blame for their circunstances. There are homeless for varying reasons...domestic violence, drug abuse, bad housing policies. But I guess that’s too complex for you. Just lump them all together and deny their right to exist.
In my little town, it’s black uniforms. I remember one guy with not one, but two drop-leg holsters. And yhat was twenty years ago.
This whole thing is very weird, and very depressing.
I was a young man back in the 1970s. I wouldn’t say that I was a hippie. But I kinda looked like one. And in the few times I interacted with the police they treated me with respect. I appreciated that.
Time marches on. Today I’m a old guy, a graybeard. And now in the few times I interact with the police they talk to me like I’m trash.
Something fundamental has changed. And it’s not me. It’s them.
A dork is a whales penis, thank you for the compliment.
I won’t hang out waiting for drugs to fill my free needles, defecate on the sidewalks and live in the childrens park either. Do you live in flyover country? From where I am at, the homeless have more rights than the homeowner or taxpayer. They get paid well too. I need a permit to have a wood stove, the local bleeding hearts give out tent heaters in which they burn trash in their free tents. I like camp and pay $20+ a night to do so. They live freely in junk RVs, with no plates, and steal cars to park near them on the should of the road, and fill it with trash. Our State has a law that “until there is housing for all who need it you cannot arrest people” for living in self made slums. When will that ever happen? The 12th of never. If you build it they will come. The cities and counties are purchasing hotels and motels, and housing the druggies in them, the rules are? You can smoke, drink and do drugs...PARTY ON....
Society in general is a lot coarser now than it was then. I don’t anticipate that it will get better any time soon.
“ Sounds like peace officers doing their job.”
Here’s hoping you get the same treatment someday.

Everybody has the right to exist.
Perhaps you’ve never worked with homeless folks. Many are highly educated. A wife or child dies, they spiral into depression and addiction.
There is also those that choose that lifestyle, lesser so. Who decides who is who, and who decides which ‘garbage’ gets to live? Glad it ain’t you.
100%
The police / judicial state is dangerous. They will drag anyone into their web of money, time hoops to keep the money flowing. Justifying their existence to the few that still think they are good guys. They honestly don’t care about you/me/family and given enough reason or boarder will drag anyone down. Police and judges today see themselves vs everyone else. I would rather pay the mob to keep order.
What are you going to say when it is your turn in the barrel? In their eyes, you are no different than those you talk about. They just haven’t got to you yet. But they will. Then all your ass kissing and jack boot licking won’t do you any good. Enjoy it while you can, because your time is coming.
Be gone fool. I am not a bum, or degenerate, or drunk or drugged out. Maybe you are.F U
You are not a human being either. So?
%here is nothing that has less value than a disgressive human being. They are the equivalent of mold, parasites, termites, rats or other destructive vermin. A horse or cow or even a sheep is of much greater value.
Simplicity is the heart of decisiveness. Complexity is the enemy of decision. Why anyone would care about killing an Iraqi or Afghan is beyond me. Human coyotes. I certainly had no feelings about removing several VC from the gene pool. They wanted me dead, very simple. They died.
If you are sober you have no excuse for your defense of the trash of society. Those who are parasites merit elimination just as one traps rats and mice. Perhaps that where you should be classed. You certainly hve great sympathy for those who produce nothing of value and eat up the earnings of the productive.
