Regular people compelled to make sacrifices for the energy crisis in the UK

As always, millions of regular people will be compelled to do the heavy lifting for the follies of a few.

Just yesterday, households across the U.K. were paid to use less electricity from 17:00 and 18:00 GMT. This was part of a scheme to conserve energy.

The scheme is called Demand Flexibility Service , whose stated goal is to prevent an overload of the electric grid. An overload and an eventual collapse could leave most of the U.K. in darkness.

A total of 26 energy suppliers have signed up for the service. According to National Grid's electricity system operator, more than a million households and businesses have signed up to refrain from using high-consumption appliances such as ovens, washing machines, dishwashers, etc.

The scheme has been extended to today, the targeted hours this time being 16:30 to 18:00 — i.e., 30 minutes longer than yesterday.

Some people across the U.K. could receive up to $24 for drastically reducing their electricity usage yesterday evening.

This is perhaps the first time in the history of the U.K. that practices have been put in place.

This is occurring at a time when parts of the U.K. experienced their coldest night in 12 years on Sunday night (January 22) as temperatures dropped to as low as -8.4 degrees Celsius in some parts.

Simultaneously, three coal-fired power plants in the U.K. have been ordered to be prepared for emergencies.

The National Grid insists that there are no chances of blackouts, but the fact that they are urging consumers to cut down on consumption for two consecutive days and are asking coal plants to be prepared shows that the crisis is grave.

First it is voluntary and then it becomes mandatory. All according to plan.

What. Crisis. The Russians are defeated and Ukraine is getting the tanks they need because they ground the Russians to rubble.

I just love the cute phrases our masters choose for things that are not so cute. A more accurate name would be something like ‘Voluntary Blackouts’.

And in the small print: Soon to be involuntary. So get used to it, suckers.

“Demand Flexibility Service”

Orwellian…

The key point here is that this is a planned and enforced shortage. Which would end if a couple of characters met an angry and motivated crowd.

They try to convince you otherwise, but it’s them that are surrounded, not us.

I don’t suppose the radical idea of building more powerplants to produce more electricity & avoid blackouts has occurred to them. Some of these folks seem to get dumber all the time, so maybe a little suffering is good for the education.

Meanwhile, the US is exporting record amounts of energy.

Hey, folks in the UK, aren’t you curious about why you don’t appear to be getting any...?

We damn well are.

When you control energy and food, you control the people. Rationing comes along with “social credit” for obedience.

“regular people will be compelled to do the heavy lifting for the follies of a few”

“A few” that were chosen by the regular people.

+1

Amazing how easily most people are led to outcomes not in their best interest. Here, take this shot.

The Brits soon better get used to rationing and standing in long lines for their food and heating tokens. I also doubt King Charles will be enduring any similar hardships.

Shortages are not and never were “unavoidable”. There is plenty of energy right in the ground that may be recovered and put to use. the trouble is either a lack of will to use these sources, or a ideological doctrine that claims such use of resources is “unethical” or works some kind of irreparable catastrophe on the environment.

How about small, scalable, nuclear power generation systems?

https://www.westinghousenuclear.com/Portals/0/new%20plants/evincitm/eVinci%20Micro%20Reactor%20NPJ%20M-A%202019.pdf?ver=2019-04-30-211410-367

Look it up. The technology exists, it is vastly safer that the old fixed nuclear power plants, and it can be set up to take the place of EVERY solar farm or wind power array out there, at vastly less cost and taking up virtually no space in comparison (about the size of a typical lot for a single home dwelling), and it can run 24/7/365 at MAXIMUM output for up to eight years without refueling.

When it comes time to refuel, the unit can be removed, sent back to the manufacturer and be refurbished, to again be put back in service. These units can supply adequate power for remote locations, taking the place of Diesel or natural gas, or in an array, supply enough power to run an industrial complex off the grid.
