Hollywood unleashes a monster upon itself.
Cinema is a rare art form that transcends all boundaries and brings people together.
Nowhere else does a diverse group of people sit together to experience similar emotions simultaneously. Audiences are enthralled together, they laugh together, they cheer together, they jeer together, they cry together, and if the work is admirable, they applaud together.

When award nominations are announced, many in the media study the demographic groups of the nominees instead of the quality of their work.
A few days back, the same Hollywood that sanctimoniously brands a large section of the public as bigots, was accused of bigotry for snubbing some critically acclaimed films by and about Black people.
The film at the center of this controversy is Till.
Till was released last year and is based on the true story of the mother who pursued justice following the murder of her son Emmett Till in 1955.
All this made Deadwyler a formidable contender at the Oscars. However, when the nominations were announced on Tuesday, Deadwyler’s name was conspicuous by its absence.
The film’s writer and director Chinonye Chukwu was also regarded among the leading contenders for the Best Director category at the Oscars. Alas, she was snubbed.
Chukwu accused Hollywood of racism and sexism.
“We live in a world and work in industries that are so aggressively committed to upholding whiteness and perpetuating unabashed misogyny towards Black women.
And yet.
I am forever in gratitude for the greatest lesson of my life - regardless of any challenges or obstacles, I will always have the power to cultivate my own joy, and it is this joy that will continue to be one of my greatest forms of resistance.”

I find it hilarious.
“Greenbook” was a very well acted/produced/written movie about racism based on a real person.
Emulate that and you might get some attention.
Actually blacks attacked “Greenbook”, because it portrayed the “White Savior”.
Actually...When award nominations are announced, MOST ALL in the media study the demographic groups of the nominees instead of the quality of their work.
It's turned into an affirmative action awards show, nothing about quality even matters any more. It's a joke, farcical.
“using the issue to try a get “stuff” without earning it”
Couldn’t agree more.
Back in the 90s I had a black supervisor that took disciplinary Action a black female co-worker in my shop.
After, she ran around for weeks accusing him of racism.......a black woman accusing a black man of racism......that makes a lot of sense.
It was at that time I realized the accusation of racism is nothing more than an attempt to gain leverage in any given situation when there is no other valid argument.
Since that the accusation or racism means nothing to me.
Minority whining is starting to become intolerable. They want us to kiss their asses every damn day.
It’s really gotten old, hasn’t it? 🙄
They probably didn’t like “Amistad” either because John Quincy Adams was an old White guy from MA.
All the abolitionists were all white people too.
Or a third rate production played on BET.
Yep! And I, as well as untold millions of great Americans, could care less about the complaints of racism.
Fourteen percent identify as Black but you wouldn’t know it from the exposure in media and entertainment, trends or urban politics. We need balance and accountability. Hollywood is legendarily racist but that doesn’t mean that’s why this film didn’t get nominated. It wouldn’t be the first buzzword project to be snubbed.
It’s basically a high school popularity contest. No one cares if you or you movie were not nominated. Make good flicks and people will come to see them. Howard Hawks directed many many great flicks and never won an Oscar. I doubt it bothered him nor did he ever cry discrimination as he was an evil white man.
Who could forget Muncie, the four-speed who carried the load of countless V-8s? Or the 727 Torqueflight? And then there is the venerable Allison, who rose to fame in heavy industry. Then there was Green Dot, the funny little three-speed with a diverse shift range.
Indeed it's inescapable.
I don't do hulu, but if I did I would cancel over this. The ads alone make me ill.
Whites, lots of them Jewish, are still the majority in Hollyweird.
It seems to me that as woke as they are, they would be handing out these Oscars affirmative action style a long time ago.
Waah! My dreck didn’t get nominated!!! You’re all WACIS’!!!!
I suspect a lot of blacks won’t be happy until they keep all whites as SLAVES for 200 years. And they wouldn’t be happy then because their plantations would fail....
