The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, bar where deceased LSU student Madison Brooks and the four men charged with rape crimes against her were allegedly drinking is now under fire, with a university official announcing, "It is time for action."
"She should not have been taken from us in this way," LSU President William F. Tate IV wrote in a recent statement. "What happened to her was evil, and our legal system will parcel out justice."
Brooks, a 19-year-old sophomore, died after she was hit by a ride-share driver in the early morning hours of Jan. 15 in East Baton Rouge Parish. Four people, including a minor, have been charged in connection with events prior to her death.

If they had known that 2nd degree murder carries the same penalty as 1st degree rape they might have killed her and disposed of the body.
I don’t understand why she was even allowed to work there since she was underage. Stores don’t even allow someone under 21 to sell liquor at the register. Unless, something’s changed, carding was always at the door, or you didn’t get into the bar in Louisiana.
What happened to her was wrong on every level, but this nimrod TateQuads is inviting a Oberlin suit without the nuances, just pay up.
Legal age to enter a lounge and drink alcohol in LA is 18.
They changed that law 30 years ago to 21, or the feds were going to withhold funds. Kids were driving from neighboring states back then to drink at 18.
“Legal age to enter a lounge and drink alcohol in LA is 18. 3 yrs different than most states”
All states fall under the federal 1986 guidelines for 21 as minimum age.
“I don’t understand why she was even allowed to work there since she was underage.”
A lot of states including LA allow bartending at 18.
Unless a female is going to a Christian college it’s not in her best interests to go to college. It’s better if women marry and settle down with one man instead of getting passed around in college for 4 years which reduces her chance of success as a wife in the future.
yep. Stay home and marry the classmate that works as the local used car salesman
“She was 19 yet got this intoxicated in a bar???”
She worked parttime there but not that night. The servers would know she was underage. The bar hired young pretty girls as servers for the obvious reason.
I am sure there is more to come out.
Especially since that bar has had issues before...
Thanks. Shows you how long I have been gone from LA.
I was born and raised there but Job relocation, retirement
25+ yrs or so ago and I really haven’t been back.
There’s really nothing to come back for. I won’t even drive into New Orleans, anymore. Not even days. I want to sell, eventually, and leave for good.
Nah. I know Secret Agent Man from some time back now, and he's good people.
TexasGator, you're right, this is a horrible rape and a heinous murder. Everyone condemns this crime!
But I see what Secret Agent Man is saying. Perhaps a little unartful in his presentation, but, dispassionately considered, he's right. Bad decisions that put you in vulnerable situations may get you in trouble.
For example, if I went to the worst Chicago neighborhoods and withdraw a large amount of cash and flashed it all around, would that be wise?
No.
Did I deserve what would happen? No.
Could I have made better choices? Most likely.
That, in a nutshell, is what S.A.M. was saying.
And Portnoy001, if, as you say, "This sitw is full of sick lunatics. awful".... then perhaps you might consider another website.... especially since you only just got here. What, Jan 7, 2023?
Affidavit: Madison Brooks
