DENVER — Former Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe posted on his Instagram account Thursday that he had killed a large mountain lion “wreaking havoc” in a rural Colorado neighborhood.
Labeling the kill “predator control,” Wolfe said he stalked and killed the big cat that had already killed two dogs and was living under the porch of a resident in the undisclosed neighborhood.

Mountain Lions are actually quite common.
In AZ they could be hunted for 9 months/years, in the whole state and the permit is cheap and not subject to lottery.
Yet, very few are taken each year. They think, the cougar population is actually growing.
All because Cougars are supper stealthy! I have never seen one in the wild.
And I have seen bears, bobcats, and many other species in the wild!
I do not even know, how to approach one?
Any hints?
Mountain lions aren’t rare and require very large territories. Putting it somewhere where it would die of starvation or be killed by other large predators isn’t humane. Also this one is acclimated to humans which is dangerous. IMO it’s better that it was killed before it did worse than kill some dogs.
Okay - as said - not going to wrangle.
“That cat was dining well!”
And EVERYTHING was on the menu.
Including people.
“Any hints”
____
Very carefully? I have no idea!
Mountain lions, (puma, catamounts) attack from behind.
In India, locals walking in the countryside wear a Halloween mask facing backwards...
City people have no clue.
What living with large predators is like.
What I read, pumas cannot be relocated. It will likely come right back or be killed/kill some other puma in that area.
Pumas are their own biggest enemies.
They do not really have any natural predators, and they are pretty good in avoiding people.
But they will kill their own, if some trespasses on their territory!
This one had some problem. Living around people is not puma’s natural behavior. and it is potentially very dangerous!
Finally, killing dogs is puma’s specialty. They really like to snacks on coyotes!
The picture was obviously shot with a very short focal length lens, which distorts perspective and makes what’s in the foreground look proportionally larger than what’s behind it. It’s elsewhere listed as coming in at 195 lbs.
That’s no scrawny, starving juvenile. 😮
