My first thought when I heard about Covid coming from China, was that they had done it deliberately, to get out of the trade deal they had made with the U.S.
Pompey is running for President.
In that one passage he relates that he is willing to challenge China; Trump caved to Xi; and that Xi would hate to see Pompeo as President.
All of these things would be positives in a Presidential race.
Now, whether anyone believes him is the question.
There was one, he’s not there anymore.
He was impeached twice.
He was stabbed in the back by damn near everyone, including the person in this story.
Trump and all leaders had to determine if this was a stealth biological warfare plot by Zi. Before they could do this delicate conversations needed to take place at upper levels of government so domestic fears could be alleviated. Pompeo needed to step back.
Forget it, he's rolling.
At that time..people have to go back to that time and think.
At that time, not to many had any idea that the tiny Dr Mengele Fauci was in it up to his ears..or at least how much he was involved.
The very worst thing Trump did was let that back stabbing SOB Pence control the covid thing. All hell was let loose with him at the helm.
And that is exactly how Pence would run the White House if he ever got in.
We may soon reach the point where nearly every FReeper agrees with the view I’ve had about Pompeo for several years now: that he’s a globalist “deep state” @sshole.
Yea, because you’re not the boss. We all know Trump isn’t being easy on China but he knows that sending a subordinate to haras their boss is poor form. Leader to leader is how this kind of thing is handled. The fact that Pompeo doesn’t seem to grasp that shows that he’s not as ready as he thinks.
Trump or Pompeo. Pompeo or Trump.
Who do I believe here?
The real question is when, if ever, Trump was correct on the Covid crisis?
Mike Pompeo wants us to believe that at the same time he was calling it the China virus and taking heat for blaming them for it he was secretly telling Mike Pompeo to downplay the China connection?
Dude needs to come up with better lies.
Exactly...If Trump wants his team to play good cop then that’s his strategy and his call to make.

Pompeo agreed with Trump.
Also, Pompeo says Trump didn’t say only “shut up”, but rather “shut up for awhile”.

I’ll put my flame suit on for this. But for a time when Trump was President, I was “into” Q. I thought it was interesting, and some of it rang true, although a lot of it was like, “huh??
Anyway, I do remember a group of Q postings that dealt with this very thing. Not Trump telling Pompeo to “shut the hell up”, but rather that the administration knew that China was intimately involved, but was purposely keeping silent about it because pushing China on it could lead to global war, or something like that.
That’s what I’m remembering, and I’m sticking to it.
What if he were actually telling the truth here?
What if he is? Trump was trying to get protective equipment. I can fault him for not buying American, if a US company even made protective equipment here, which I doubt, but otherwise, I see nothing wrong if Trump DID say it. And notice he said “for a while”; that certainly modifies what he said. I like Pompeo, and some of the things Trump says are cringe worthy, but if this is the worst Pompeo can come up with, no problem.

I do believe him. I believe Trump never saw China as a existential threat until very late in his presidency, for most of it he only thought of them as a economic rival.
So he was willing to cut corners to get a good trade agreement out of them, because he only thought about besting them economically.
It wasn’t until he was knee deep in the Covid Virus that he realized that the CCP’s ultimate is global hegemony and sees the US as the primary obstacle to that goal, and all their actions are geared toward undermining the US to achieve their objective. That the economic sabotage they’ve done to the US is not just for money, but in service to a much more insidious goal.
I can totally see Trump, before finally he realized this, still act in a way that sought only to preserve his advantageous trade deals with China.
