Maryland Lawmakers Introduces "Can't Carry Anywhere" Bill
YouTube ^ | 16 January 2023 | Colion Noir

Legislators in Maryland's 2023 session's first bill would seriously restrict where the tens of thousands of people who recently received concealed handgun permits might actually carry their weapons.

The Maryland laws that prevented many otherwise law-abiding persons from obtaining a concealed carry permit were overturned by the supreme court decision in NY v Bruen.

Following this decision, applications for firearm licenses skyrocketed.

Now, Maryland Senate Bill One would prohibit people with guns from being within 100 feet of a long list of locations that provide "public accommodation," including nearly every retail establishment in the state.

It would also make it illegal to carry a permitted gun on anyone's property without express permission. On the first day of the General Assembly, Sen. Bill Ferguson (D), Baltimore, the president of the Maryland Senate, said, "If people don't feel safe, nothing else matters,"

Waste of time. Clearly unconstitutional.

Just remember, cops are almost always last to arrive at a crime scene. Beyond our God given rights, this is the number one reason to carry.

Adding Maryland to my ever-growing list of states I’ll never visit once, or ever again.

You know that. I know that, and they know that too. The whole point is to waste time and resources of the pro gun folks in fighting it. It costs the Democrats nothing to pass an unconstitutional bill, and there are no negative consequences to them either as a party or personally to passing it. In MD the Democrat brand is so strong, a Democrat could butcher a baby live and sell the body parts and it would only gain them votes (Oh wait they already do that)

However, they will arrest you on the slightest pretext if you actually successfully defended yourself with a firearm. Self defense is a much more serious crime than armed robbery, assault and attempted murder in Democrat controlled jurisdictions.

“If people don't feel safe, nothing else matters,"

The core philosophy of progressivism, eloquently stated.

Yes that's why I said in Democrat controlled jurisdictions. Although, you still have to be mighty careful what you say in any jurisdiction if you shoot a criminal.

I disagree. It is the more common of the propaganda structures used to gain political power, used by those of the progressive ideology.

The core philosophy is: everything changes all the time. The government has to have the power to deal with it, and should have no constraints on that power.

As a corollary, only progressives should be allowed to have power...

Things are going to get WAY worse with the idiot commie Wes Moore as the new governor. We could have had a great conservative, Cox, but no, the low information voters came out for their boy.
