On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday. His family asks for privacy while they process this tremendous loss.
I love the Yardbirds when BOTH Beck and Jimmy Page were in it. Oh man. YouTube: “Stroll On” (TLAR version from the film “Blow Up”) Sublime
Caused by mask wearing?
Damn. Been listening to his music since the late 70s.
Agreed. May he rest in peace, and prayers for his family and friends.

Beck was one of the top ten great rock guitarists. But I never liked his material and tunes he played on.. And I am not a fan of guitar jazz virtuosity. So give me the output of Eric Clapton any day. Mark Knopfler when he was in Dire Straits. Keith and Mick Taylor. Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. Steve Winwood on Guitar and organ
“Incredibly, it seems Keith Richards will outlive them all.”
Keith will outlive the cockroaches that survive an all out nuclear war.
I used to go out of my way, in the early 1990s, when I was in boarding school,. to go see Glenn Miller “Tribute Bands” in concert.
Every generation thinks the music of their own youth and happiness is superior.
The bands from the 60s were superior to all of the crap we’re getting today, IMHO. Listen to the ads for products. All of them to this day use 60s music although a lot of them are idiots attempting to cover 60s songs who just screw them up. Even today’s so-called “country music” has gone to hell.
I don’t like everything he did either, but I did love the jazz fusion albums as well as his stuff with Rod Stewart.
Different strokes, as they say, and I also like the guitar players you mentioned.
“ I saw Beck and Santana at SPAC years ago. ”
I saw them together as well, different venue.
“ Every generation thinks the music of their own youth and happiness is superior.”
And they’re right….for them.
That was nice…thanks for posting!

I like the Aerosmith version, but that is pretty good.
I like guitar virtuosity but I like it within a tune that has vocals. Could be The Stones, Mick Taylor. Cream. Traffic and Steve Winwood. And so on. Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page. Instrumentals are boring for me.
I think that's changed with the last generation. Almost all of the folks I've met from that generate says their music sucked, compared to their parents'.
Different strokes, dude.
For me, JB made his guitar sing.
