Years ago I had a kidney stone and ended up in the emergency room. I told them I couldn't tolerate opiates, so they gave me an IV, and sent me home with a bottle of pills to take for the next few days. The relief of pain was immediate, and as long as I took the pills, I was fine. There was no high associated with it at all, and I just drove home.
They told me it was some kind of super-tylanol. I can't remember the name of it.
I am going in for a minor procedure, and would like to ask them to use that.
Does anyone know what that was?
Parents use it mostly for treating fevers, but it may be counter productive.

Pain killers re good for taking the edge off.
Most pain is caused by inflammation. IOW, swollen tissue pressing on something it shouldn’t. 4 advil (for inflammation) along with two regular Tylenol (every 4hrs) worked as well as OxyCodone for me. Regular opiate type pain medicine does nothing to address the source of the pain.

Taking gabapentin 7 years ago for RSD (CRPS) at 300mg a day, I blacked out, found myself parked in front of a grocer’s with no memory of driving there, holding a shopping list I couldn’t make sense out of. Drove the 3 miles back home and threw that crap away.
Neurologist then Rx’d nortriptyline saying, let’s get you off of those opioids. Except the medicine stopped my bowels for five straight days. At the lowest possible dose too. Tried it again a couple weeks later same side effect.
Was prescribed Lyrica. I felt like an observer in a continual panic attack for two weeks on that and said nope not happening. My pain specialist keeps trying to implant some device in my spinal cord says he no longer wants to prescribe opioids, but I’m fine on about 90 Percocet a month.
I have tried anti-inflammatory, herbal supplements of several varieties that Southeast Asian Indonesian tree leaf opioid supplement that makes you want to vomit. I’ve tried capsaicin I tried CBD oil, CBD gummy‘s CBD capsules do you not like being high and haven’t been able to work for the past year for paying VA is currently reassessing my 90% disability rating and I’m contemplating growing opium poppies in the near future. Just so I have a source of an affective pain medication. Yes I do eat boatloads of Tylenol Percogesic on occasion, and NSAIDs worsen my tinnitus to the point my ears hurt literally. Opioids flat out work for pain management. I would just be happier if I could get more of them at lower doses I can function, but the pain syndromes are catching up to me.
Maybe 30 years ago, I had severe whiplash from an automobile injury. Initial pain relief was by Tylenol with codeine. Totally zombiefied goofy. Told pain doc I needed my brain back so switched to acetaminophen megadose.
In my case, the acetaminophen reduced inflammation that thus reduced pressure on nerves at the points of disk damage. Doc advised on the risk and I only tolerated acetaminophen megadose for a few weeks.
Doc switched me to a then new drug that for the life of me I can't recall the name of. Non opiate, non habit forming, rarely prescribed, very expensive, worked well for my goals. My goals were tolerable pain with a functioning brain.
Every pain doc visit, the doc would load me up with physicians samples but even so, the insurance company freaked out. For that matter, the health insurance company was freaked out about everything going on. I'm leaving out details.
I ended up having to get real belligerent with the health insurance company in a legal way. Finally found the magic tactic (caught them in an illegal business practice in my state) that got the health insurance company to suck it up and to quit whining and interfering.
Avoid the spine stimulators, they will adhere to the spine and cause even more pain, and you will begin dying. Adhesive Arachnoiditis.
I puke on any opioid, then it shuts my bowel down if taken daily. Occasional is ok. I’ve had high volume of Tinnitus for decades. And Flight Deck Hearing Aids makes it worse. I can hear it without the aids.
Your reaction list sounds like mine. Tip learn the chemical names, and carry a written sheet of them, these young medical don’t know brand names. Macrobid or Macrodantin same drug as an antibiotic called Nitrofurantoin. The name brand was on my list, they gave me Nitrofurantoin, I look up everything they script.
Got 0 for the Diverticulitis attack. Flagyl is an anti-parasitic same as Ivermectin-Stromectol. Just have different side effects, got my vision bad on a few pills, and I’m the main driver as hub is going blind at 82.

The DEA/FDA change drug classifications all the time, making some painkillers hard to get. Their regs are ridiculous, and the Drs aren’t happy with it either.
Replaced what used to be Vicodin
In all probability it was ketoralac. It is excellent for post operative pain. However, it can not be used long term due to its effect on the GI tract.
forgot to add, Ketoralac is the generic name. The trade name is toradol.
You were experiencing acute adrenal crisis from a lack of cortisol.
If you take prednisone long enough, especially high doses, your adrenal glands are suppressed. You have to taper off slowly in order to give your adrenals time to resume normal function.
Despite knowing about this hazard I’ve managed to blunder into adrenal shock a couple of times because I absolutely hate prednisone’s side effects and I try to rush the taper.
I broke my collar bone around 10 years ago when the front hydraulic brake on the dirt bike i was driving at high speed failed.
It SUCKED.
Try sleeping with a broken collar bone....You CAN’T.
Having your Jaw wired shut with broken ribs and wrist didn’t help.
Was given a big bottle of Morphine pills but i did not want to take them.

That’s the boat I’m in. NSAIDs are high risk for triggering some autoimmune kidney diseases.

Wait until the pain warrants it. Some people take pain relievers every X hours even if the pain is tolerable. That can lead to dependency. But there's no need to suffer unnecessarily.
I had my procedure, it was a colonoscopy. I told to them no painkillers.
Everything came out fine in the end.
I think the poster actually meant 101, and just had a typo.
To my knowledge, it's primarily used for nerve pain, which I have, after four major lower back surgeries.
Not worth a hoot to most, HIGHLY Addictive, lots of bad side effects.
Mood changes, especially if alcohol is consumed in enough quantity, blackouts can occur and more.
I cannot tell you it's addictive, It's lost most of its effect on my nerve pain and I'm weining off of it currently. You have to gradually taper down to almost nothing otherwise seizures may occur. I'm half way through the tapering down period and so far, so good.
Weight gain was a big issue for many.
Absolutely correct! I took off 70lbs of the 90lbs I've put on it since I started taking it, and that was NOT easy.
My pain management specialist is switching me over to Lyrica, which has its own side effects that I have to monitor myself for. Ugghh. Hopefully the Lyrica at least works for my nerve pain (neuropathy from knees down in both legs.)
