A former Virginia Tech soccer player will receive $100,000 as part of a settlement after she accused her coach of refusing to play her because she would not kneel during a social-justice demonstration, The Roanoke Times reported.
Kiersten Hening filed a federal lawsuit in 2021 against her former coach, Charles "Chugger" Adair, claiming that her First Amendment rights were violated. She agreed to dismiss the suit as part of the settlement, which does not include any admission of wrongdoing on the part of Hening or Adair.
Hening claimed that Adair "verbally attacked" her at halftime of a game on Sept. 12, 2020, after she did not kneel while a "unity statement" was read before the game. She also said that she quit the team two games later and accused the coach of carrying out a "campaign of abuse and retaliation."

The $100k settlement won’t even cover her college costs for 4 years.
All modern American colleges and universities (except about a half dozen), pay all their instructional employees to NOT perform their job description and be truly worthless to society.
I'm sure they'd include you, just substitute the word "Professor" for the word "soccer".
You would find they would pay very well for you to play Professor.

I’m university faculty already.
Instructional faculty are expected to write or do grant work to bring in money/recognition. Everyone else gets paid a flat rate as an adjunct or they use grad assistants to teach classes.
I hope the coach paid the settlement personally.

She should not have settled unless it was nothing short of the COST of a full scholarship.......then she could transfer to Hillsdale College or Patrick Henry.

Frankly the girl's lawyer should have included an apology from Chigger as part-and-parcel. What a great temptation to find a way to void the settlement, and run this asshole through The Process and promise him to his face, not just to embarrass him, but his family. Buy the ticket, take the ride, Chigger. There is no room for shitstains like this anywhere.
