A book that could have been an interesting history of what society considered the ideal womanly figure degenerates into race bating. I was thinking if a curvy bottom was linked to race then why did bustles become the craze starting in the 1870s. The author of the article brought up the same thing. Someone the author of the book claimed it was due to a black woman from around 1800. Then there was the Hubble skirt of the Edwardian Era that emphasized the bottom and coke bottle shape figure. So am I to believe it was European carving up Africa that brought about that fashion. Both fashions in combination with wearing of a corset served to minimize the waist. One can go back further in time with Peter Paul Rubens and his big butt women.
