This is an excellent article and I deeply appreciate your thoughtful and well considered post!
I agree. The American military is the only military in the world where a man can disobey an order and get a medal for doing so.

Yes, as we grow older many people evolve. I was the way I am now when I was a kid. Always went my own way.
“the Republicans betray their voters time after time and eventually people see them for what they are and become more independent thinkers over time, it’s called experience, wisdom, etc...”
Why did you just limit this to the GOP? And every year new conservative parties appear when someone doesn’t like what they have like the American Reform Party and the Progressive (”Bull Moose”) party.
Most people I think sway their support for the parties that full fill a majority of their wishes but don’t like any of them completely. This is why we have liberals in the conservative parties and conservatives among the liberals. In the conservatives we have voices like Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Sen. Susan Collins. Current “Blue Dog” leaders in the Democrats include Rep. Ed Case and Rep. Stephany Murphy.
And all of the leaders betray their voters and the country on a regular basis. Sometimes trading off to get something...bartering. So limiting to one of the many different parties in the US is not touching all the bases.

That’s precisely what I said. She doesn’t understand how religious faith is different from everything else. I was laughing about the others, like looking in the mirror.
Pretty much a perfect description of the vast majority of Freepers.
Yeah, toss both of those. Otherwise, spot-on. Very insightful into personality characteristics.
#4.
“Even if they do find some specific political or religious views more relatable, they will make sure they don’t give in to blind belief. This is one of the most telling examples of independent thinking.”
So there are things you BLINDLY believe in?
Challenge everything, keep your own council.
Should be (from the article):
“4. You don’t identify with any particular political or religious views”
#15...keep your head on a swivel when out in public
Believing in God and Jesus is pretty much the epitomy of A blind belief my friend. So yes that’s my one exception. 😉
I like this one...
7. You don’t do things out of herd mentality or beer pressure
“But it worked a hell of a lot better than any other system which had ever been tried.”
Yeah, but how does it compare with this new shiny, just, fair system where everyone is equal and happy, that I came up with and that we haven’t tried yet?
Ping
It is lonely being an independent thinker when surrounded by so many useful idiots.
15. You couldn't be bothered to read this article.
“Does that mean one has to read the full article posted on FR before one can post a comment? If so, I ain’t playin’.”
LOL! That’s the freepers motto!
(I think I’m now guilty of number 10)
About half are BS... sounds like someone who is trying to draw clicks from both sides. more than half of these can be boasted by any flaming liberal...
Nice try but i’m saying Next to this thread...
