Aretha Franklin described her mission as a singer like this: “Me with my hand outstretched, hoping someone will take it.” That kind of deep, empathetic bond between artist and listener is the most elemental connection in music. And you can think of our list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time as a celebration of that bond. These are the vocalists that have shaped history and defined our lives — from smooth operators to raw shouters, from gospel to punk, from Sinatra to Selena to SZA

Great guitarist and great singer, Terry Kath of Chicago.
Any of the singers in Three Dog Night.
As this level, it’s all a matter of preference.:-)
nobody like that Luther Vandross
Where is Ann Wilson from Heart?
Autotune use should be an instant DQ. Also, no Floor Jansen and Simone Simons.
David Pack.
Nana Mouskori and Elvis Presley are better than all of these names.
To be a truly great singer, they should either be able to give you the chills, or almost make you cry (be that tears of joy, or sadness), by simply listening to them.
Very few are able to do this. You know in your heart who they are.
I always hated her nasal voice, drives me insane. Regardless, she’s on their list.
I would give Ozzy an honorable mention. Just the fact that you can’t understand a word the guy says until he starts to sing is like a magic act.
Anyone who puts stock in fake news Rolling Stone on any subject is a fool.
**Don’t Laugh Engelbert Humperdinck**
Yes, his voice is right up there with the best. One of my mom’s favorites, and she used say, “If they don’t sound manly, I don’t listen to them. And how good are they without a band and microphones. That’s when you find out who can sing and who can’t.”
Robert Plant ?? (Always a homely dude, in my wife’s opinion). Roger Daltrey ?? (displayed a tough persona, but probably a wuss). Both good at yelling into a mic, I guess. Both my dad, and my wife’s dad were manly men. That’s why my sister, and my wife were never attracted to these wussie singers. They had seen real men in action in the real world, not the make believe entertainment world.
A big reason this country is in the mess it’s in is because of celebrity worship (that includes phoney baloney ‘preachers’ too). A lot a young men think they have to look and act like these wussies, and therefore the nation is inundated with these unmanly men.
Lol
I don't believe in them. I mean, I believe they exist, I just don't want one.
I have a "flip phone" I keep in my glove box, but no electronic tether for me.

Rick Beato does a youtube video on Make Me Smile entitled “What makes this song Great.”
He peels back the tracks and isolates each part. Kath’s vocals when isolated are astounding.
I often prefer instrumental music because most singers are SO BAD.
Funny....plant came to my mind while scrolling down to the first comment.
