What McCarthy has offered his GOP opponents, and what’s under discussion

SNIP

What McCarthy has offered

Motion to vacate: McCarthy has offered to lower the threshold to bring up a move to force a vote on ousting the House Speaker down to just one member, a change from a threshold of five members that was revealed in a House rules package over New Year’s weekend.

That was also lowered from a threshold of half of the House GOP conference that was agreed to in November.

Floor vote to establish term limits for all House lawmakers: Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), who has introduced a term limits bill, said McCarthy made that commitment.

Floor vote on a border security bill: In a House GOP conference call on Friday, Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.) said there will be movement on legislation encompassing a border security plan crafted by Texas Republicans, according to a source.

Commitment to move bills through regular order: McCarthy has pledged to bring up 12 regular appropriations bills individually and also made commitments on an open amendment process.

Create subcommittee on “Weaponization of the Federal Government”: Housed under the House Judiciary Committee, the panel is a response to a request from GOP members who have withheld support for McCarthy to form a “Church-style” committee to investigate alleged government abuses, in reference to a 1975 Senate select committee named for former Sen. Frank Church (D-Idaho) that investigated intelligence agencies. "

Offer doesn’t mean agreement... We’ll see where it goes.

"I’m not sure why, but my soul has a very strong aversion to McCarthy. This happens with very few people and is not based upon any logical factual information or thinking."

If I have been blessed with one gift from God, it has been the ability to size people up pretty quickly and accurately. It had served me very well in both my personal and professional life, and some of my coworkers have even found slightly eerie. One time we had a new director come and take over your unit. Very impressive resume. We met with him and everybody was going gaga over this credentials and self promotion pitch.

I told a coworker, "He ain't gonna last. He'll be gone in a month or two." Sure enough, about a month and a half into his tenure, he didn't show up for work one day. Turns out he wrecked his car (real nice high end Mustang), somehow made it home, got arrested for DUI, and then filed a false police report saying his car had been stolen. He was gone.

I was against Karl Rove in the early 2000s when everybody on FR was celebrating his genius.

In any case, I only mention this because, like you, I feel the same way about McCarthy.

This drama is a footnote to the real story of our age, the US is a failed state. Few want to believe it but then few Romans understood, at the time, what happened in 476AD.

Does infidelity matter in a post Clinton era? Newt and Henry Hyde fell on their swords over past personal behavior but did anyone care?

He’s Speaker of the House. His job is to move a legislative agenda. He’s not out political pope.

“ His first order of business is elimination of the funding for the 87K irs agents”

And how would he get such a bill past the Senate and a Biden veto. This is pure theater.

“”Has the DOJ announced an investigation into these shady back room deals yet?””

Has Gaetz resigned yet? He said this week he would if McCarthy became Speaker? He and Boebert were like high school kids last night and this morning. She’d find something on her phone and hold it out for Gaetz to see and then he’d do the same with his phone - all smiles and giggles.

I think there should be a rule that all phones are to be left at the door!!!! Who knows? They might pay more/better attention to what’s going on!

How on earth did anyone live their life before clinging to their phones?

When I look at the guy I get a punch in the gut feeling.

Gut feelings are the pulling together of a number of small, seemingly unrelated things to form a more informed understanding of something.

Trust your gut.

Amazing! The article awards with the list. I expected numerous paragraphs of blab before getting around to the list.

McCarthy is one I just don’t trust. Don’t like the look or the words. I also have been well served by always suspecting anyone who wants a job too much and the more powerful the position the more I suspect.

I always hesitate too judge a book by its cover but first impressions are usually not wrong. I have learned to go with my gut sometimes first and final but always a factor to be considered seriously.

The gut feel is part intuition and part experience.

I am willing to be wrong but my gut feel has protected me more times than not. Like something that can be made shorter but not longer; trusting first and suffering later is nearly impossible to recover. Instead trust is to be earned from suspicion.

He sure missed on the IMMIGRATION demands. He has to start by asking for 10x as much as they want to get from the DNC Communists instead of only what is needed.

The Deplorables want a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1986 ONE TIME amnesty. Since that amnesty was granted already, a second amnesty is off the table. What remains is the enforcement the Democrats have disallowed since then.

The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1986 goes like this -

1) southern barrier;

2) require eVerify to hire;

3) end all chain migration;

4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural citizen parents = nat born citizen);

5) end work visas;

6) 40-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);

7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund from tax on remittances. Use tax on remittances to replenish Social Security account.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls
