Jim Harbaugh accused of Level I violation in notice of allegations Michigan is receiving from NCAA
Columbus Dispatch ^ | 1-5-23 | Ryan Ford David Jesse

If Jim Harbaugh is indeed staying with Michigan football for 2023, per his statement on Thursday afternoon, he’ll apparently have to deal with a Level I violation of NCAA regulations.

The Detroit Free Press has confirmed that Michigan is expected to receive an official notice of allegations from the NCAA soon, charging the program with four Level II violations — those deemed “more than a minimal but less than a substantial or extensive recruiting, competitive or other advantage” according to a description adopted in 2019 — and Harbaugh himself with a Level I violation — a “severe breach of conduct” that “seriously undermine or threaten the integrity of college sports,” per the guidelines.

The punishment for the Level I violation — which the Free Press has learned is for Harbaugh lying or misleading NCAA investigators — would be levied against him personally, and could include a suspension for a game or multiple games.

Harbaugh's contract, which runs through 2026, includes a clause that allows for U-M to fire the coach for cause without owing him any money. But that wouldn't come until the completion of the NCAA's investigation.

Who knew the ncaa was still around? I guess they still don't like being lied to (in their minds, anyway).

One has to wonder if Jimmy still has nfl aspirations right now. Who knows.

Rumor in Indy is that they are wishing he’d come to the Colts.

Could be Michigan’s way of getting rid of him after that loss to TCU, collude with the NCAA to bring exaggerated charges against him

He gave a talk at a Pro-Life event speaking very boldly about his Christian views against abortion. I worried back then if he was making himself a target in a hyper-leftist culture.

What exactly is a NCAA violation today? The best HS players are now subjected to open bidding by the best universities. They can play a year, enter the portal and do it again.

The NCAA will exclude Central Michigan State from post season and take a victory lap.

He now has my support. I love it when people express their strong Christian views in the face of the totalitarian leftists.

In today’s world, full of intolerance for freedom of speech, full of petty vindictive behavior, that is probably what this is all about; a Pro-Life statement.

Could be Michigan’s way of getting rid of him after that loss to TCU,

Dumbest statement ever!

Three losses in this past two seasons, with two being post season and in the national playoff championships?

You got to be kidding me........Sheesh!

The only way Harbaugh is leaving is if an NFL team buys out his remaining multi million dollar per year contract with Michigan and offers him a better deal.

The only reason I can imagine the NCAA investigating is that he violated some taboo about colored people. Somebody probably overheard him say "All Lives Matter".

The Harbaugh family are devout Catholics- all of them.

Still- if Michigan is in fact guilty, the program will pay and Harbaugh will be coaching in the NFL. Watch for:

1- a bunch of juniors to declare for the NFL draft
2- a host of Wolverines to enter the transfer portal
