“Well, Trump was trying to put an end to that, and given the record of the Neocons (Yugoslavia, Syria, Libya, Ukraine, and many others), one would have to be pretty sick in the head to support a continuation of those policies.”
But he WASN’T trying to put an end to it! NO US president ever tried to put an end to foreign meddling, with the possible exception of George Washington. It is the very purpose of a nation’s foreign policy mission to attempt to exert influence (i.e., intervene) in other the matters of other countries. It’s what they are for!
So, since interventionism is a given, the only other criterion required to meet the definition of a “neocon” is his embrace of the economic practice of capitalism (remember, the accepted definition of “neoconservatism” is capitalism coupled with interventionism).
Thus, the question for you is, since you clearly have a great antipathy for “neocons,” do you also hold an antipathy for interventionists who are NOT capitalists?
“Just to add a bit. During the Cold War, every time we intervened it was to ADVANCE US interests.”
Of course.
“Since then, what have we gained from sticking our noses into Bosnia, Serbia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, and staying 20 years in Iraq - NOTHING, just HUGE DEBT and being hated by much of the Third World.”
We still did it to advance our interests. But sometimes it doesn’t work out, and sometimes it even backfires. But make no mistake about it: Our interventionism was to advance OUR interests, however we defined them.
“But make no mistake about it: Our interventionism was to advance OUR interests”
Sure would like to know what our interests were in those cases - mass killings caused by the Neocon Wars? If so, then NO THANKS from this conservative.
You really don’t know what real dominant behavior is by a nation. The military bases you point are left overs from a world war. Even most of those are mainly basing rights used mainly to respond to Cold War actions by the Soviet Union.
“But he WASN’T trying to put an end to it!”
Trump certainly tried to put an end to the Syria crap, but was undercut and lied to by the people who were SUPPOSED to carry out his orders, in other words THE NEOCONS. Thankfully, Putin got the sides together in a peaceful discussion and now Syria is pretty much put to bed (not completely, but very close).
As to the other Neocon wars, they pre-dated him.
“Sure would like to know what our interests were in those cases - mass killings caused by the Neocon Wars?”
You do know, I assume, that the mass killings predated any intervention by the US, NATO, or the UN, right? For instance, the Srebenica Massacre was in 1995, and was carried out by Bosnian Serbs against Bosnian Muslims. Prior to the massacre, the UN had declared Srebenica a “safe area,” but could not enforce it.
Where the US and NATO screwed up was by taking sides in what was a civil war, however noble they may have claimed their decision to be. (BTW: I was opposed to our getting involved under those circumstances.)
I’m still waiting for you to answer my question as posed at the end of my post #41.
“Trump certainly tried to put an end to the Syria crap, but was undercut and lied to by the people who were SUPPOSED to carry out his orders, in other words THE NEOCONS.”
Ah, does that mean there were other interventions during Trump’s term that you DID approve of, other than Syria?
Also, Trump ordered the missile attacks against Syria (and Russian personnel) in response to gas attacks. Does that contradict your comment that Trump “tried to put an end to the Syria crap?”

SCF is regarded as an arm of Russian state interests by the United States government.[1][2]...In April 2021, the United States Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on SCF because of their efforts to interfere in the 2020 elections.[6][7] According to the United States Department of State, the SCF journal “is directed by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and closely affiliated with Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”[4][7]
“Also, Trump ordered the missile attacks against Syria (and Russian personnel) in response to gas attacks. Does that contradict your comment that Trump “tried to put an end to the Syria crap?””
The Neocons snowed him, and I suspect that even YOU know that. It was a White Hat False Flag - classic Neocon move.
“I’m still waiting for you to answer my question as posed at the end of my post #41.”
Just as I supported most (if not all) of the Neocon interventions during the Cold War, I base my opinion on whether it’s justified. I’m not into absolutes, like BLIND SUPPORT of the Neocons, or blind support of any other country.
Plenty of killings by ALL sides in Bosnia - no threat to existed to the US or NATO, so not our business. If Europe wanted to go in there, it was THEIR BUSINESS.
“Our interests was and is the dirty money that is to be made by the Democrats off the kick backs, par offs, and money laundering in and from Ukraine. Until that is stopped, the Biden worshipers will see that the war never ends.”
Tell me about it. Given that we know the pipeline is well into the billions of dollars, the question I have here is whether any of that funny money makes it to FR...as some people here are a bit too blind in their support of the Neocons to not have some personal gain in this Ukraine adventure. Their support is simply too solid, given what we know about Ukraine an how they funnel tons of money to Biden and other Democrats.
Russia is incompatible with civilization
This source if literally Russian intelligence propaganda.
The only thing proven in the international sphere is that Russia has an ineffective and paper Tiger military.
“Ah, does that mean there were other interventions during Trump’s term that you DID approve of, other than Syria?”
Nope, as I noted in a prior post, I don’t blindly follow anyone Democrat, Republican, or Neocon. If the intervention is shown to be in US interests, then I’m good with it. It’s very simple.
