Covid-19 crisis: testing and vaccination in the light of diminishing returns

Abstract

At the time of the assessment of the sanitary measures taken to fight the crisis, we have analysed the testing and vaccination following the grid well known in health economics: the law of diminishing returns. In the first phase, the returns are positive and increasing, the increase in benefits being faster than the increase in costs. In the second phase, returns are still positive but decreasing, with costs increasing faster than benefits. In the third and last phase, the returns become negative, with benefits decreasing despite an increase in costs. Both testing and vaccination, which were very beneficial at the beginning of the crisis, progressively followed a trajectory of diminishing returns with the extension of the measures to wider populations (asymptomatic or young persons), or for example with the emergence of the Omicron variant.

How’s the FDA protocol for 5 years of testing before full approval going?

--- "Covid-19 crisis: testing and vaccination in the light of diminishing returns" (from May 2022)

Crisis? Really? As of 4 January 2023,

( 6,692,423 Global Deaths over three full years / 8,009,239,035 Global Population ) x 100 = 0.0835 percent mortality rate over three full years. Less than one-tenth of one percent globally. Over three years. For an approximate annual rate, divide by three.

Sources: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/ and https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/

Given that about one percent of a population dies away every year, over three years the approximate number of deaths from all causes worldwide would be more than 240 million, a number so much larger than the "Covid crisis number" as to make the real crisis, in light of injuries and deaths from still-experimental mRNA products that the narrative is unraveling. Slowly but inexorably.

Source: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm

The crisis is now that arguments about data and data collection, analyses and the trustworthiness of such as the NIH, CDC, FDA and more are becoming the "crisis."

Covid surge! Covid soar! Covid emerging! Covid variants! Covid headlines! Crisis! And more crises, all supposedly answered by "send more money."

So it seems the "diminishing returns" may be that money is diminshing, which is always a crisis to those clanging their begging bowls.

My wife and I are in our early 80’s and probably got a Covid Variant from sharing a Thanksgiving Dinner with one of our adult offspring.

He later tested positive and we had severe cold symptoms.

My wife didn’t want to expose her Bible study group to the latest crud. She wanted a Covid test and one for me.

It would have taken a couple of days to even get on our PPO’s Clovid shot list. Then, we would have had to drive about 20 miles to their hospital there and get in line for our tests in our car.

A retired RN friend of my wife suggested a private testing center a few miles away from our home.

We made appts and went that day to that clinic had the tests, and we were positive.

A PA at the clinic tried to convince us to buy/take one of the oral meds, supposedly for Covid. We said no thank you. They advised us to rest, drink a lot fluids and to stay away from others for a week.

Later at home, my wife spent about an hour getting a live person/RN on the phone with our PPO. That RN’s advice was the same as the PA’s re: no meds, just rest, liquids and some otcs like baby aspirin and oral antihistamines.

So we stayed home and didn’t see anyone for another week.

This past week, my wife and/or me have talked to dozens of relatives/friends across the country with our annual New Year’s’ catch up discussions across America and offshore.

Most of them replicated what we did after the so called diagnosis. Everyone has had a Covid family visit. Their local docs told them to stay home, rest and drink a lot of fluids and the standard OTC regimes for a cold or this crud.

All of them had the same results with just rest, liquids and baby aspirin and anti histamines.

No one was told to go to a hospital for treatment.

One male friend in California is an asst. manager for a drug chain. He had covid on one test and has stayed home with pay. He will go to his store tomorrow for another test at 8 AM. If positive, he goes back home for 7-10 days and will be tested after that. He is still getting paid by some Covid/California fund not to work.

His wife works at a busy doctors’ office as the receptionist and she has tested negative on every test.

What, we went through has been replicated by a many of our relatives and friends from the East Coast to the West Coast.
