So General Dynamics is also re-writing history. They list the USS Hunley as a predecessor. Of course the Hunley was a Confederate ship and so I suppose they had to change it to USS from CSS in order to get the advertisement past the Diversity Commissars.
I had a mustang officer. Chief Warrant officer Kemp. Great guy. Ex-rag hat officers were fun. Coming through the ranks gives them some perspective. IMO. Tell him an old MM1(SS) hopes he does great. Regards
Electric Boat is the company that builds them.
Doug Dalgleish and I wrote the book on Trident (”Trident’) in 1984. Navy couldn’t figure out where we got all the info (all public sourced.) And yes, that was what we heard then.
Thanks. No, haven’t kept up with subs since late 80s when the USAF put me on hypersonic aircraft history.
How do you figure that?
“So General Dynamics is also re-writing history.”
How do know GD made that graphic?
“How do you figure that?”
oops. 1/3. one month for refitting and next crew quals.
Nobody did. Not the Judiciary, Legislative, the Church and church, the 50 states, thousands of counties, cities and towns. Above all, neither did the people. The people! Do you remember how the US Constitution starts?
We the people...
Did nothing.
Short of armed and immediate rebellion, what did you really expect?
You can’t hate everyone.
Needless to say somebody has succeeded in getting the plans...*ALL* the plans...for this vessel to the Red Chinese. And he/she/it was probably rewarded handsomely.
Sure you can ... but it's not sane.
Some of these people belong in "Code Pink" ...
The pentagon debriefed Tom Clancy during his book writing too I understand. If you picked up Jane’s Fighting Ships I could sit on the boat and read classified info about the ship while underway underwater. What the Brass Hats thought was secret wasn’t so secret. My days are were before towed array was installed on my boomer. My 1st patrol we got run over by a Russian Fast attack doing a crazy Ivan out of our baffles. We missed metal to metal contact by a hair and lost a floating wire (supposedly secret). LOOK magazine ran a picture of a seagull riding on one going by a fishing boat. The boat went by underwater. I had 3 Captains while on the 640, all Jacks, not a bad poker hand. Be Safe. 🙂
“My 1st patrol we got run over by a Russian Fast attack doing a crazy Ivan out of our baffles.”
We got outfitted with a towed array way back when. As soon as we got in deep water CO rigged for angles and dangles. After a few minutes he requested a report from sonar. No signal from array. Secure from angles and dangles.
I read it somewhere many years ago. It may be that the author confused reactors with screws. However, the USS Triton had two, as do most Russian subs.
“I read it somewhere many years ago. It may be that the author confused reactors with screws.”
Most all of our nuke subs are single screw.
Kindly pass along my gratitude for your grandson’s service to our country. His work is every bit as important as if he were in uniform.
Huh?
I am no engineer, but having read a bit about the new magnet technologies, I would believe those are responsible for more efficient electrical “everything.”
“You can’t hate everybody”
I can try.
Seriously, I do not hate them, I just have no respect for them.
"No" respect? All 1.83 million soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines?
Who would be responsible to act? Without a court or civilian authority to back them up?
Did Trump, the Commander in Chief, order them to do something? No, he did not.
It wasn't the military who failed to act.
