Cardiologist Explains How Damar Hamlin’s Cardiac Arrest May Have Happened
New York Post ^ | January 3, 2023 | Ryan Dunleavey

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin might have been a fraction of a second away from moving on to the next play. Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest Monday night when he collapsed on the field in Cincinnati, was administered CPR under life-or-death circumstances and hospitalized in critical condition after what one independent board-certified cardiologist saw as a collision at the time in the cardiac cycle when the heart is most vulnerable.

“That hit had to occur at a certain point in time that was only five milliseconds long,” said Dr. Marc Cohen, Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Newark-Beth Israel Medical Center. “If that hit occurred one millisecond after or before, this may not have happened.”

What looked like a routine (by NFL standards) tackle by Hamlin on Bengals receiver Tee Higgins resulted in Hamlin getting to his feet, adjusting his facemask and immediately falling onto his back as horrified players from both sides watched trainers, paramedics and doctors assist with his breathing and restore his heartbeat.

The same parents who might have been telling their adult sons in the NFL to get vaxxed in order to keep the gravy train chugging along...?

I wonder how many might have done that.

commotio cordis Is relatively rare. I think I read 10-15 athletes a year due from it in the US.

A HS lacrosse in atlanta had to be shocked about 5 years ago when his heart stopped after taking a shot to the chest.

(Side note I’m a Hs lax head coach AND my son was a goalie)

At my HS we have AEDs all over the school and all of the coaches have to be trained.

Anyway, I’ve always been told that in the case of CC, a shock within 3-5 minutes will save their life because CC is almost like a short circuit… there is no damage… it’s just that the signals got interrupted.

I read they did use an AED on Hamlin, that it started his heart, but he wouldn’t breath on his own.

I hope the young man is ok.

But, down the road, I want to know what caused this, what could have been differently (if anything). It’s good/bad enough that I am molding young men, but I never really considered that one could actually die. People like me need to know what happened for the safety of kids we oversee every day.

Not week in week out? I keep seeing “healthy” young athletes suddenly dying at least a couple a week. Where have you been?

“We don’t have players dropping like flies week in and week out.”

See below. There have dozens of stories similar to the one below. The government is in full blown communist information suppression on Hunter Laptop, FBI Abuse, CIA Abuse, Jan 6th, Domestic Terrorism (parents), Biden family corruption, Ukraine, voter fraud, etc... what makes you weren’t suppressing COVID vaccine damager? Besides the suppression the media is their lapdogs. I personally know a young healthy person the vaccine killed (was in the papers).

We honestly don’t know the truth or what to believe due to not having a free press.

*******

You may recall another article where I reviewed sudden death in the young after vaccination. The report, published on January 24, 2022, points out that sudden death in young athletes is exceedingly rare, occurring in less than 1 in 300,000 to 1 in a 1,000,000.

However, between January 24th and this article’s writing, February 7th, a span of roughly 14 days, the number of collapses has increased by 105 – from 513 to 618, and the number resulting in death has increased by 77 – from 305 to 382. All of this in two weeks. Even if these had occurred over two years it would be cause for alarm and investigation.

“I still carry scars and endure pain from a football injury when I was 17.”

I have heard other former high school football players says the same thing. In addition, there has been a steady increase in player size which will make the current injuries more severe than in the past. You add in coaches who are re-living their glory days and a parent should think long and hard about it.

Hamlin was clearly NOT in cardiac arrest for at least 30 seconds after he hit the ground.

The videos being shown today all cut off just a second or two after he falls.

I watched a video last night that stayed focused on Hamlin the full time. In that video, Hamlin is clearly moving his legs, feet, arms and hands. The EMTs were actually trying to restrain his motions and appeared to be talking to him.

By around the 30 second mark, there were too many people around him to see what was happening.

Thrashing around with arms and legs is usually associated with a head injury.

Also, people with head injuries are frequently sedated because they act violently or try to stand up and walk around.

The fact that Hamlin has been sedated, and possibly intubated, is not consistent with cardiac arrest.

Been happening pretty regularly with soccer players in Europe. We are a few months behind them in mandates. I expect to see more of this here as time goes on.

Damar is lucky that it was only cardiac arrest that happened, and that they were able to administer CPR.

I watched it happen on live TV and I knew instantly it was a bloodflow problem when he stood up, paused for a second, and then immediately fell down. It didn’t look like the much more common cognitive loss of consciousness due to concussion.

I though he ruptured an artery internally, and that was the cause of his obvious lack of bloodflow to his brain. I said to myself, he is dead. If he has massive blood loss, they wont be able to save him. I thought maybe the direct impact to the chest and a heart/artery defect was the cause.
It may sound odd to say it this way, but he is actually lucky it was just cardiac arrest.

The real problem now is how much brain damage he may have suffered due to low bloodflow. They were aggressively administering CPR right away, so if they were doing that effectively, he may fully recover.

No, it’s only the amateur sports/players.

That alone makes a person wonder.

He gave it a try and did not care for it. Yes, I did think long and hard about him playing football.
Luckly he found a safer sport. He became a professional motorcycle racer.

A 5 millisecond window implies 1/200 chance of a of the hit coming during that window. I would think there might be more than 200 such hits in a year, or was it and extremely violent hit? How did the doc rule out a preexisting heart condition?

Here's a study from 2011 looking at Sudden Cardiac Death in NCAA athletes:

https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.110.004622

It isn't a new phenomenon, however I do not know if the rates of Sudden Cardiac Death is increasing dramatically among NCAA athletes.

I just checked, looking for a number.

Per the NCAA, a total of 1,696 players made up the NFL’s active rosters for 2021.

So if we go for a round number of 1700, assume (using the NFL’s stat) that 1,615 are vaxxed, depending on the rate for adverse events, you wouldn’t expect to see a large number of injuries/deaths.

Horrible for the people affected, but more people are shot and killed in Chicago annually than will be killed by CoupFlu vaxxes in the NFL.

So a simple body count won’t really tell the tale.

What might be helpful to see is if non-vaxxed players are experiencing issues like myocarditis at the same rate as vaxxed players.

When physicians speculate, they are merely giving an opinion. Despite all the invasive and non invasive diagnostic tools, a definitive diagnosis may not be possible. Hopefully this young man will recover with aggressive supportive care and not be the subject of an autopsy. If an autopsy is done correctly , a definitive diagnosis can be established. Physicians who speculate about patients they have not examined are on the same level as politicians who make promises with other people’s money.
