It’s always frustrating to read about the many ways the federal government wastes our money, from millions spent putting lizards on treadmills to thousands spent on art classes in Kenya. But regular government waste pales in comparison to the appalling reality that the US just left billions in taxpayer-purchased military equipment behind in Afghanistan—to fall right into the hands of the Taliban.
The Times of London reports that the US simply abandoned a truly astounding arsenal of military equipment and weapons. This reportedly includes up to 22,174 Humvee vehicles, nearly 1,000 armored vehicles, 64,363 machine guns, and 42,000 pick-up trucks and SUVs. So, too, the list of allegedly abandoned weaponry includes up to 358,530 assault rifles, 126,295 pistols, and nearly 200 artillery units. Oh, and the Taliban will likely inherit state-of-the-art military helicopters, warplanes, and other aircraft from the US, too.

I think I read somewhere else the Taliban went from no Airforce to the worlds 6th most powerful overnight. Of course these airplanes may run out of spare parts etc in a few years but look at the rest… the machine guns the rifles. They will be used for decades, and very possibly many against us.
Even woke General Miley the next day in a press conference admitted Joe was lying, that he didn’t follow their advice on the withdrawal.
I don’t work for the DOD or a defense supplier, but I get the sense this equipment is viewed like paper plates at a picnic.
its paid for and considered used once, so just leave it in the trash when we go home. It has no value
Besides, with the controlled Pedo Peter in charge, there is lots more Fed.gov $$$ and printed money to buy even more for the next picnic we’ve got planned in Ukraine.
What shocks me is that the Zeepers expect a different result than what happened in Afghanistan. Those freaks are deluded.
How many pallets of Cash and Credit Cards ?
I actually saw a photo of a pallet of cash left there. Dont know if it was legit or not.
Only an insane person would arm his enemies with such weapons!
that Fat SOB should have resigned if he had any integrity and he should have been court-martialed and jailed for his stunt with the call to china about the nuclear status...... *spit
we’ve been giving the Taliban arms since the 80’s and that war with Russia. The odd thing is all those womens studies and LGBT stuff the state dept was encouraging in Afghanistan is gone. And not a single peep about the calamity and horrors of gays and women in Afghanistan. Back to the Bacha Bazi boys and goats.
I wonder who was released from the jails and who is now in jail? Who is dead? Who has brand new weaponry and American money to enforce Taliban rule in Afghanistan? It’s as if that country doesn’t exist any more.
Not insane, but EVIL!
Biden has no trouble leaving all those weapons for the Taliban, but you had better not own a gun - that is too dangerous and you can’t be trusted anyway. Democrat logic.
The marginally cro-magnum Taliban hasn’t the education or the discipline to keep any of that equipment functioning for very long. That being said throwing away our equipment and money is criminally and treasonously negligent.
Well, it’s different this time.
The Ukrainians now possess weaponry in the millions of $$ value that was left behind by the Russians fleeing with their tails between their legs. The value in hard currency is so vast it is incalculable.
One wonders if when it is time to calculate reparations, the vast values of tanks and trucks and personel carriers and delivery vans will be deducted.
As a truly interesting aside, there was a report of the Russian army appropriating commercial vans to replace the lost and captured military vans used to move supplies to the troops from the supply dumps. The Russian companies have lost the vans they use to deliver to customers to the army.
And the progressives giving all that money to Iran, where they kill gays and treat women like cattle. But you had better bake that cake!
Our strategic thinkers view these as left-over tools and raw material, not weapons. They will be of no consequence to US plans in the hands of the Taliban. Their thinking - not mine
they all know, no General ever got promoted, or got a defense, Wall Street or think-tank board position worrying about stuff left behind.
Moreover, Fed.gov will always have unlimited money and debt to buy them more
Having all that stuff is bad enough. Using it effectively is another thing. The MGs and small arms I can see them using. Vehicles need fuel, maintenace, parts (they can scavenge a lot of that, granted), and skilled operators. Heavy weapons need stocks of ammunition, specialized equipment, and more people with skills to employ them.
I see them selling off anything they can’t put to use. Possibly for pennies on the dollar.
There is no awfulness in the multiverse that cannot be made more awful by Pelosi and her fellow sewer dwellers. There is no imaginable punishment that would be too severe for these vermin. These folks were made to be hated, reviled...and.....
We left so much equipment in Kuwait, that it is close to impossible to list all of it.

These programs and all the other ones like them, are nothing but money laundering. Taking care of friends or institutions, who in turn take care of the person that arranged the cash.
It’s the Government Democrat way.
When you give stuff away, you have to replace it.
All by design so the defence contractors get new orders and the politicians get their rewards.
Old news by now.
did we abandon this ? or is it stuff we gave to the Afghans and they went French and abandoned it ?
