I don’t understand what you think is gonna be accomplished by any speaker when we don’t have the Senate nor the presidency. The house may pass some bills that will die in the senate with the Democratic majority. The next two years the only hope we have is for nothing to get done, perhaps we can stop spending money. I go for that, but for anybody that thinks the house is gonna be able to get any of their bills through is not thinking clearly.

Lose what exactly? Bills that won’t get through the senate? The conservative agenda is on hold until we have the house, senate and the presidency.

It’ll be McCarthy, especially as he has Trump’s support, which I don’t think he deserves.

The only question is who will he concede committee and rule power to, to get the final votes - hardline Republicans or “moderate” Democrats.

They keep electing these so-called ‘leaders’, and the y never ‘LEAD’!...............

Well, in truth, they are elected to be representatives.

Trouble is, they don't bother to represent those who elected them once they get to DC and the grift money starts flowing.

I would be ecstatic if nothing ever gets passed.

You’re one of those “Do anything! Do the wrong thing! But don’t just stand there!” kind of guys, aren’t ya?

Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan, and Kevin McCarthy called themselves the “Young Guns” when they arrived in Congress, but they turned out to be garden variety Uniparty RINOs. The voters bounced Cantor, and Ryan left to enrich himself & try to tear down Donald Trump. Only McCarthy remains, and he deserves to be defeated for House Speaker.

Depends how you pronounce “lead” - like “lead” with respect to governance or “lead” as in the dense inanimate metal.

With regard to the lump of dense metal, he’s quite the “leader,” imo.

Surely there’s someone in the Republican caucus who has fewer enemies than McCarthy has.

There, did I say that the nice way?

young guns...?

More like Milquetoast McCarthy

I read yesterday that he already moved into the speakers office

He should be re-located to the nether regions of the house basement in a vacant janitors closet.

As Scott Perry says: We've worked in good faith for months to change the status quo. At nearly every turn, we've been sidelined or resisted by McCarthy, and any perceived progress has been vague or contained loopholes that further amplified concerns as to the sincerity of the promises being made.

Kevin sounds like he's a snake in the grass kind of RINO to me.

I don’t understand what you think is gonna be accomplished by any speaker when we don’t have the Senate nor the presidency.

The person we chose will probably be the speaker (or minority leader) for the foreseeable future. If we do gain control of the Senate and the presidency, we want someone who will advance a conservative agenda. In the current situation, we need someone who will fight to make the inevitable compromises as acceptable as possible. I don't trust McCarthy to do that.

gonna be accomplished = nothing

Let the Democrats own the next 2 years. The only reason the DNC let the Republicants win the house was to have a boogeyman to blame it on for 2024.
