Biden begins 2023 with a stronger hand to play and an inclination to play it (note: not from Babylon Bee)
POLITICO ^ | January 1, 2023 | Jonathan Lemire

President Joe Biden begins 2023 politically stronger than 12 months ago, bolstered by his party’s surprise midterms success, a robust set of legislative accomplishments and the resilience of the alliance he rallied to support Ukraine after Russia’s invasion. Indeed, as he vacations on St. Croix, the biggest decision he faces is whether to seek reelection to the office he holds.

Biden has not yet fully committed to another term, according to three people with knowledge of the deliberations but not authorized to speak publicly about private conversations. On his island vacation, Biden continued his running conversation with family and a select few friends and allies about a reelection bid.

There are challenges still on the horizon, from an economy threatening to slow down, to the war in Europe, to an incoming Republican House majority threatening gridlock and investigations. But those in the president’s circle believe there is a strong and growing likelihood that he will run again and that an announcement could potentially come earlier than had been expected, possibly as soon as mid-February, around the expected date of the State of the Union, according to those people.

That potentially accelerated time is owed, in part, to a sense inside the White House and among Biden allies, that the new year dawns on a note of revival, one marked by an unlikely comeback that has reassured fellow Democrats.

Not controlling the House is a stronger hand?

“..bolstered by his party’s surprise midterms success”

More like his party’s midterms cheating.

Not only does Biden not have a stronger hand, but a serious economic downturn is coming.
Too many issues are aligned at once.

Nothing says strength like losing power and investigations into your family's criminal behavior starting.

Politico is moonbat propaganda.

Somebody at Politico trying to be Biden’s Monica Lewinsky.

He won’t run again.

If he isn’t 25th amendmented this year, I’d be shocked.

There’s probably something to that, considering the Repubs can’t even agree on a Speaker. Further, with the country turning left, Biden - despicable as he is - does indeed have the upper hand.

Biden’s’strong hand’ is the fact when (not if) things turn bad he has the Republican House to blame! He’s has already said he will not cooperate with the house on legislation. But no one understands how .gov works…..

He commands all the military, and federal law enforcement. He has the ability to ignore Congress and the courts with no consequence to him or his administration.

"Not controlling the House is a stronger hand?"

We should not delude ourselves. How can a GOP majority in the HOR influence any events if they cannot agree amongst themselves?

Already got 1.7 T to play with. Why would the House have any say?

The truth is that Biden can do whatever he wants and nobody will stop him because they haven’t in the past. So that alone gives him power.

Amazing this propaganda organization can be taken seriously. The midterm results were a result of the voters not being happy with either side. To say otherwise is to show a partisan bias clearly.

And …. he will have two more years to nominate - and have ratified - the next SCOTUS justice.

Normal thinking people would agree with your statement but consider Democrats and other Liberals aren’t normal people.

A crashing economy is perfect for them, the idea of never letting a crisis go to waste makes sense. Biden and the media will blame the Republicans for opposing anything Biden puts forward to “fix” the economy.

They will blame everything, but their policies and the media will go along.

So far no one in Washington is challenging Biden’s handling of the war in Ukraine, in fact most of Washington approves of Biden’s handling of the war.

Whatever is left of the Southern Border will be destroyed, the number of people crossing the border will surge over the already incredible number.

If your goal is to destroy the country and keep yourself in power for years, then Biden is in a stronger position.
