A pro-family leader in South Dakota challenged Republican Gov. Kristi Noem’s response last week to a “kid-friendly” drag show that took place on a state college campus in November. On Wednesday, Noem rejected the suggestion that her administration wasn’t protecting children and hinted that her critic should be fired.
A drag show advertised as “kid-friendly” and invited “the whole family for an evening of entertainment” took place at South Dakota State University (SDSU), according to a November 16 news report. The event, sponsored by a college student organization called the Gender and Sexualities Alliance, drew criticism for “encouraging crowd members to bring $1 and $5 [bills] to tip performers.”
Norman Woods, director of the Family Heritage Alliance Action, wrote an open letter to Noem on December 19, criticizing her administration for the lack of action to protect children from drag shows such as the one hosted by SDSU.
“I’d encourage the Family Heritage Alliance to evaluate the purpose of your organization. Is it to promote family values — or is it to attack the most conservative governor in the country?” Noem wrote in a December 21 response addressed to the organization’s board members. “I believe it is the former and urge you to focus your efforts on bringing our shared pro-family message to the people of South Dakota. I suggest you find an executive director who agrees...”

RE: Kid friendly drag show....
Kid: But mommy, that drag queen was really friendly. He smiled and put his arms around me and everything just like President Biden does.
...and he let me sit on his lap, but there was this big lump...
The criticism is legit, she and her administration didn't do their jobs. We need more people speaking out against garbage like this, not trying to be silenced by the supposed "most conservative governor in the country".
Sounds like Noem is going back to her Republican Establishment roots. I guess it’s hard to be a fake conservative, if you don’t really believe in the cause.
But does she have the actual power to stop it?
She is very naive to think positively of kid family drag shows. She has head her head in several issues. The perverts ultimate goal is to have no laws against pedophilia.
That was my question. What legal power do her critics think she has to stop it?
I blame the University administration for allowing this crap. Even in a small state like South Dakota the Governor cannot reasonably be expected to be aware of everything happening on the campus of the state’s universities. The university administration however should be aware of what activities the various campus groups are sponsoring and require pre approval of those events. Inthis case the event was either approved by the administration or the sponsoring group did not seek approval.
I would first blame the parents who would take - or allow - their kids to see it.
Remember that Noem showed cowardice against the NCAA by vetoing an anti-trans sports bill....and then changed her tune when Tucker Carlson went nuclear on her.
“ But does she have the actual power to stop it?”
Maybe she does and maybe she doesn’t. But what she does have the power to do is not criticize the organization that made this atrocity public. She should have simply said “thanks for bringing this to my attention and I’ll see what can be done to stop it.”
But she didn’t. That’s her error.
L
Drag shows have always previously been considered adult entertainment.
There were legal reasons why she rejected the initial bill. She knew it would be successfully challenged and fail - and she explained this.
Despite how many are acting these days, Presidents, Governors, etc., can’t just do whatever they may want, if we are going to be a land of laws instead of men.
“Maybe she does and maybe she doesn’t. But what she does have the power to do is not criticize the organization that made this atrocity public. She should have simply said “thanks for bringing this to my attention and I’ll see what can be done to stop it.””
EXACTLY, Reagan certainly couldn’t stop abortion in this country, but he sure let us know that he stood with those who wanted it to end.
For Noem, is she even bothered by Drag Queen shows that target children, or will it again take Tucker to bring her to that place? Either way, we can do better.
>> Sounds like Noem is going back to her Republican Establishment roots
I find her repulsive
maybe God let Kari lose because she is supportive of what is an abomination to HIM.
This kind of photo goes beyond Christian Tolerance.
Her and Trump are compromised... and thus cut themselves off from God’s support and wisdom required to fight, win and govern a nation full of God’s children.
Politically, yes, but still not badly as bad as her top 'adviser', Matt McCaulley, as shown below:
Not sure if he's still in her Rolodex, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's still there.
She also has the bully pulpit which she didn’t use
