Maybe "go woke go broke" is something that the "wokes" should take a look at. How many more in-your-face messages do you need?
Last week, I read that 2022 was "an annus horribilis" for the people who make movies:
Major studios, streamers, cable providers, and other media giants lost a combined $542 billion in market value in 2022, with left-wing studios the Walt Disney Co., Netflix, and Comcast accounting for the bulk of the bloodshed.
You don't need to speak Latin to know that losing that kind of money makes it "an annus horribilis.” Maybe the next movie from Hollywood is "Salire de tecto," or Latin for bean counters jumping off the roof. It's tough to lose money but it's hard to feel sorry for a company that invested millions in a movie aimed at seven-year-olds focused on climate change or homosexuality. Hard to get parents to spread a good word about that flick! People had no trouble spreading the word and filling up the theaters to see Top Gun: Maverick, non-woke, pro-American, and a movie that portrays masculinity in a positive way. Who knew that people would enjoy movies like that?
The other example is the NBA. It went one on one against the NFL on Christmas Day and it wasn't pretty:
On Christmas Day, the most-viewed NFL game of the day was the contest between the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers, pulling in 25.92 million viewers, according to NFL analyst Ari Meirov. In comparison to the NBA’s highest-viewed game, which was between the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, it was a blowout with basketball only pulling in a little over six million viewers.

And when people get disgusted and stop watching sports or movies, they often never come back. What a great business model.
I tuned into a few minutes of an NFL game on Christmas since my son was over. I genuinely enjoy watching the games and have sort of missed them the last three years that I haven’t watched. Then I saw “Stop Hate” and “Inspire Change” on the back of the helmets and immediately turned it off. So much for giving them another chance.
Not if Deep State keeps funneling taxpayer money Hollyweird’s way...
After seeing some of these projects and their insanely inflated budgets,I’ve been wondering for a while if Hollyweird now exists to launder money for and/or to Deep State.
Same with me. Held out for auto racing until NOOSE-CAR incident. Held out for golf, but COVID insanity killed that too.
Pro-sports are DEAD to me and I don’t miss it. College sports can GFY too!
“What a great business model.”
These businesses bought “protection” from the tyrannical leftist mob including giving them a one-sided platform to insult their loyal customers. They’ll never admit their mistake, nor will they try quietly to extricate themselves from leftist politics.
May the bad times continue to roll for them.
There has to be a gay/butt woke joke there somewhere!
LMAO here. Of all the things - Non contact sport outdoors in fresh air and sunshine with plenty of UV light to kill the bugges, everyone standing at least 6 ft apart.
What’s the NBA and NFL comparative ratings have to do with woke? And really it’s not like the NBA “chose” that. They’ve been doing a slate of Christmas games for decades, it’s a big deal in the NBA calendar. And of course the NFL “owns” Sunday, though they did jigger things a bit this year. 6 million is pretty good viewership really, the NBA averages 1.6 million, so 4x average seems like a win to me.
“Who knew that people would enjoy movies like that?”
For the last few weeks I’ve watched quite a few Hallmark Christmas movies made in 2022. I don’t usually, but this year I did.
I held my breath waiting for the woke crap but didn’t notice much of that at all. I wondered if they’re catching on to the woke-broke thing.
I heard there was one Hallmark movie about a homosexual romance between two men. Didn’t see that one, but I heard that Hallmark got a lot of blowback from it.
What I noticed was a lack of swishy or actual gay secondary characters, and lack of inter-racial couples. A lot of the music was traditional carols openly mentioning Jesus. The plots brought in traditional morals.
The movies that were made before 2022 were more woke. Anyhow ... FWIW.
Since then, zero wasted time spectating.
One life, live it!
Why waste time watching others?
Why don't folks get off their lazy behinds and do something?
You're not alone in that. I can't tell you how many people I run into who can't name a single current player who hasn't been playing at least five years. They usually name a half dozen who they're not aware have been retired for at least five years.
These leagues have no choice but to go more woke as the medium of television continues its decline in viewership. They have no other means of attracting viewership outside of virtue whining to the perpetually aggrieved.
On a related note, Amazon has been pushing their streaming service of NFL Thursday games. It started as a small popup on the home page but now is a full page video advertisement which means people aren't watching.
Dems are taking the Country down.
One of the most pleasant side effects of Covid here was that due to social distancing requirements, we can use our individual golf carts. Really speeds up play when you can drive to your own ball, hit and go on.
Alex Baldwin sure had a bad year.
Hollywood has forgotten—it is a business, not an arm of government or an ideolog. In Soviet Russia the people were forced to see movies like “The Life of Comrade Stalin.” You had to watch this epic to get your food ration card stamped. It hasn’t gotten that bad —Yet— in America. How long before the films “The Life of Citizen Obama,” and the “The heroism of President Zelenskyy,” is made? One Russian actor made a career out of playing Comrade Stalin. Who will play Obama and Zelenskyy in the coming must see epics?
I don’t watch NFL games, but I do listen on the radio. I can keep up with the games that way and still be productive. Plus, the ratings companies can’t count me as a viewer.
