There is a weird Romanian bee keeper at my market who charges a king’s ransom for honey. ($25 for 8 oz, last time I priced it. And it’s local, not Manukan.) I was talking to him one day and a bee landed on his finger and he was “petting” it.

I charged $12 for a pint, $24 for a quart.
I had Italian honeybees, but there are other strains, some a bit more aggressive and some less so. They are generally defensive when the hive is opened but out flying around mine were very docile.
When I would extract honey from the frames, there would usually be a few strays that I didn’t manage to remove before bringing the frames inside, and I could let them walk onto my hand and then I could release them outside.
I miss it.
