A New York man filed a class-action lawsuit against Apple on Dec. 24, alleging that the Apple Watch’s blood oximeter has a “racial bias” against individuals with darker skin tones.
“Blood Oxygen app measurements are not intended for medical use, including self-diagnosis or consultation with a doctor,” Apple writes.

Is that a regular no-comment comment or perhaps a secret dog whistle no-comment?
Nothing is coming on my secret decoder ring???
Dog whistle.
Maybe Apple can blame it on their slave labor.
They are accurate... when used correctly.
Although blood flow can make it difficult to get true numbers....
And technique in getting the true number is a skill.
I say analog watches exhibit a racial bias.
Sue the UK, for Big Ben.
And the Swiss, for CooKoo Clocks.
We Will get equity, come heck or rising sea levels.
Ya can't be woke enough, because there is no such thing as woke enough.
Every nurse in the world should be in trouble then, as they laud how easy it is to find a vein in my pasty white arm skin for a blood draw, but have a more difficult time with my black son’s dark brown arm skin.
I read that Daylight Savings Time is racist. It never ends.
It works best when you point the laser at the nail in my case. I am thinking the melanin content of finger tips and nail beds are identically pink in all races.
Of course...some people are just hard to get a SPO2. Distal PB might not be great...for whatever reasons.
..Then there is which / what digit can make a difference to....
The best place is the ear lobe...IMO. But not always.....
A simple search shows that pulse oximeters of all types are less effective and accurate on darker skin. Simply put, the technology used involves passing of light through the skin. If the skin is darker, harder to pass light through.
Apple has deep pockets so some ambulance chasers go after them.
The ring finger is best for me, followed by the middle one. Haven’t tried the ear lobe.
I'm a RRT...sometimes...
And I have ways to get a SPO2....that I'm assuming you don't.
Don’t know what SPO2 is.
SpO2, also known as oxygen saturation, is a measure of the amount of oxygen-carrying hemoglobin in the blood relative to the amount of hemoglobin not carrying oxygen.
The body needs there to be a certain level of oxygen in the blood or it will not function as efficiently.
In fact, very low levels of SpO2 can result in very serious symptoms.

I bet a shovel is racist, too, if you look at it from the Left angle.
