Florian Hartung and Dirk Pohlmann have reconstructed a previously unknown dimension of the collaboration between Nazis and the CIA in the Cold War. Drawing upon recently released documents, the film exposes for the first time a perfidious, worldwide net that reaches deep into the power structures of the Federal Republic of Germany. Lending their authority to the fact-finders’ mission are high-ranking statesmen, journalists and historians.

I hate Illinois Nazis
the CIA was created in 1947, just after ww2.
about the same time, the progressive party, which had been one of the main parties since the early 1900s, disappeared due to their cozy relationship with the nazi party prior to ww2.
this allowed them to maintain power while hiding.
the re-emerged around 1960 inside the democrat party... causing then big dem leader Ronald Reagan to switch to a republican. when asked why he left he said, “i didn’t leave the democrat party... the democrat party left me.”
i also believe they progressives had JFK killed in order to distract the populace and weasel their way deeper into govt.
by the late 70s/ early 80s, they started making in-roads to the republican party with the ‘big tent’ republicans.
today, they’re in both parties and infest many of the major govt institutions.
Nazis, Communists, Democrats, Mooslims, ALL IN COLLUSION TO DESTROY OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC.
.
Now we have Azovs in all 3 branches and even more here on FR
Teddy Roosevelt’s Progressive party was pretty much moribund after Sen. Bob LaFollette lost his third-party bid for the White House in 1924. After 1932, the party pretty much disappeared and many of its members became ardent New Dealers.
Henry Wallace founded a new Progressive Party for his presidential bid in 1948, but that one finally disbanded in 1955.
In World War 2, we used Communists to fight Nazis. Later, in the Cold War, we used Nazis to fight Communists. Is one any worse than the other?
They didn’t infiltrate the CIA. The CIA invited them to join them. It was a ready made intelligence network in just the right place at the right time.
I was listening to an old radio show from 1952 on Sirius radio yesterday that starred Dana Andrews. It was titled: “I was a Communist for the FBI”.
70 years later it’s hard to find anyone working for the bureau, it seems, that isn’t a Communist.
The CIA was created by a law firm (I forget the name) that put together the OSS, the Nazi Abwehr that were brought over during Operation Paperclip, and Wall Street insiders.
“Later, in the Cold War, we used Nazis to fight Communists. Is one any worse than the other?”
Well, at that point the Nazis were defeated and didn’t have a country, an army, or allies anymore so they were relatively a minor threat compared to the Commies.
Yep, and people may not consider that the choice we had was not “do we employ the Nazis or not?” It was “do we employ the Nazis or do we let the Russians who want to kill us employ the Nazis?”
We defeated Germany in WWII, but not the Nazi Party, which went on to form the EU and reorganize itself in Ukraine, credit Alan Dulles who exempted them from the Nuremburg trials. Ukrainian Nazis killed nearly 18,000 Russian speaking Ukrainians in the eastern provinces in the years prior to the Russian invasion.
Nazis had snappier uniforms.
I wouldn’t say “infiltrated”, that implies there was some level subterfuge about it, like the Nazis had to be sneaky. We imported them on purpose, scrubbed their records on purpose and put them in those positions on purpose.
It can be hard to know what to believe with all the government and press misinformation that has existed in my lifetime. Knowing that you have been lied to is a start, but there is a long way to go before you knows what to believe.
The official name of the party Hitler led was the German National Socialist Workers’ Party. The term Nazi may be an abbreviation, or it may have some other origin. “Nazi” seems to conceal more than it reveals.
National Socialist seems highly descriptive to me. It contrasts with the international socialists of Marxism. Consider the words from the communist manifesto: “Workers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains.” That sounds like international socialism to me.
Hitler and Mussolini pushed for socialism but with a German and Italian emphasis respectively. The words “national socialism” seem to apply.
At the local level, I’ve known one person that I would consider a Nazi. He is older than me, so I shared one of my father’s stories from WWII. He listened impassively. Then the old man stood erect, puffed out his chest, and proudly told me “When I was 17, I volunteered for Hitler’s Army.” You could have knocked me over with a feather.
As to his current views, he has complete trust in government. He is quick to label people in the private sector as “crooks.” I told him of a successful case of de-regulation under Reagan. He would have none of it. No regulations should be repealed. All existing regulations should be kept. From time to time, we should add new regulations.
Those who founded this country had a bad experience with the British government. They came to fear government tyranny. Fear of government has been lost by most Americans. They are like the nice simple-minded Nazi I met, and also like most presenters on the nightly news. In their minds, Government can do no wrong and problems only exist in the private sector.
You know who else pushed for "National Socialism"? Joe Stalin. He rejected Lenin and Trotsky's Internationalism in favor of "Socialism in One Country", he only used COMINTERN to advance the traditional geopolitical goals of the Czars, which was Russian dominance. That's why he regularly purged the members of Communist Parties throughout Europe.
What do you mean “we,” Kemosabe. I can understand using Nazi scientists to beat the Russians to the moon during the cold war. But the spook trade is creepy enough even if organized ideally as a patriotic organization protecting the homeland. Nobody asked me about recruiting Nazis. Nobody even told me about it, until this item on You Tube. That’s beyond the pale. The legend with vampires is that they can’t enter your home unless you invite them in. They’re in. They’ve infiltrated by invite. All the more reason to defund the various spook shops, and start over from the ground up.
Well, they missed one Russian Ukrainian, and elected him President instead. Now the Russians are committing a great many Nazi-like atrocities, such as confiscating children from their homes to be Russ-ified https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/lebensborn-program
And how were those Russian-speaking Ukrainians killed? Shelling civilian neighborhoods? Lining them up against the wall and shooting them? All done by the invading Russians. I wouldn’t agree that any of that is any more than examples of the rotten things that people do to each other during civil wars. Nazis would go at it systematically, with ghetto-ization, slave labor and gas chambers, or at least a mass execution like in Babi Yar. Ironically, but there’s a memorial to Babi Yar’s dead in Kiev, which was damaged during the early days of the Russian Blitzkrieg.
The worst legacy that the Nazis left the world was their name, which is thrown around higgledy-piggledy to smear anything and everything from Trump’s wall and Israel’s victory in 1967, to the complex ethnic politics of the Ukrainian civil war and Russian invasion. It doesn’t describe anything anymore, but instead it is trivialized and morphed from a seriously evil ideology of dehumanization, with heinous practices, into a cheap insult.
