My yearly posting. Brass players will get it.
You've heard of TubaChristmas. Well, this is why there is no Trumper Christmas.

Best typo of the year, if you ask me. Thanks for the post and the typo.

LOL, I used to play, and yup, I totally get it.
Bill Chase and Maynard Ferguson were two of my idols. Met both of them and have their autographs somewhere. I never could play that high.
Chase was gone too soon, not only was he a dynamite trumpet player, he was an extremely talented musician and composer.

Never met Bill. Hung out with Maynard and his band on the beach on Hilton Head before the gig that night. Got to be good friends with the drummer, John Wackerman.

COOL!
When I was in junior college, we did a concert one year with Ed Shaunessy, the Tonight Show drummer.
The next year, we did one with Clark Terry. His mastery of cyclical breathing was amazing. He and I played the same trumpet, a Selmer Radial 2.
I haven’t played in years, Life got in the way…
BUT I had a great time, met some great people. The music is still with me, I love all things brass, trumpet especially.

I never could play that high. Nor could I. Hell, no one could. Remember the last note from "Theme From Star Trek" from Maynard's 'Conquistador' album in 1977? Inhuman.

As a Brass Instructor in a world class drum & bugle corps, I told people, if I see a Jet-Tone mouthpiece, it’s going in the lake.

I saw Doc Severinsen in concert and he was also an unbelievable trumpet player. Every bit as good as Chase and Ferguson. He played Maleguena and blew the roof off the place.
To: real saxophonist
Q. What does a trumpet player say when he meets another trumpet player?
A. Hi, I’m better than you.

That’s because there are other things that people can hit. Like a triple C.

I hit a Triple C once.
Cindy, Cassidy and Carol.
Carol got hit twice.

Yes, as a person who played (and still owns my original 1979/80 Cornet) cornet, trumpet, and treble clef baritone, I get it.

Yeah, I forgot I’ve seen him live, too! And yes, he did Malagueña, it was incredible!
He studied with Herbert L. Clark, if memory serves me. I would’ve loved to have heard him play.
A little before my time, lol.

I have an album from the ‘50s with him playing in the upper register, it sounded like a violin playing in it’s upper register. Truly unreal.
I don’t even think I ever heard the great Maurice Andre play that high.
But Mssr. Andre was a phenom in his own right…
