An inspirational Melbourne school principal who died suddenly is being remembered as 'a visionary' and 'a thoroughly decent person'.
Maria Karvouni, 59, principal of co-ed school Auburn High, died last weekend after a battle with illness, sending its teachers, students and their parents into mourning.
Ms Karvouni was 'an outstanding person, a wonderful, dedicated leader' and the driving force behind Auburn's success, the school said in one of hundreds of online tributes.

“Suddenly” and “after a battle” is odd.

It was a PUBLIC SCHOOL - if he was ‘beloved’, then the parents have a HUGE problem.
Strange - since she was apparently such a safe and effective principal.
Safe and effective.
It’s a shock that she will be remembered as a decent person? Maybe this says more about schools than they realize.
But seriously, my sympathy to the lady’s family and friends.
The idea being to low key tell the public, without going further, that it was not suicide.
