Yes, listening to them reminded me exactly what my sister-in-law did at Thanksgiving 2019. She pitched a passive-aggressive tantrum because I had the audacity to bring wheat into her house—in the form of homemade ciabatta rolls—which she put in the oven to “warm,” burned them to a crisp and then tossed into the garbage with a flourish. After that, she was so drunk she fell asleep sitting upright during dinner. We have not spent a holiday with them since.
Thanks for the encouragement. I’m fixing dinner now. Having ham, dressing, deviled eggs, gravy, sweet potato casserole, and scalloped potatoes. They are coming down later with the granddaughter and there’d better not be any drama. I’m done with that. She was as crazy as a poleaxed skunk last night so I’m hoping for better today.
The granddaughter is bringing her new Pitbull mix that was also abused but she swears she is the sweetest thing! I’ll probably put my adopted dog outside because she’s protective of her new “sisters”. All I need to top this holiday off is a big dog fight. LOL

Ponygirl, I hope they don’t stay long. I’m not in the mood. My husband talked to her on the phone this morning and said she sounded calmer but not much. He walked across the hall to tell me what she said and forgot most of it before he got to me so we’ll see! Her biological father’s family had some mental illness so I’m sure she inherited some of it. That is one of the many reasons we are no longer married. He was also violent but was a coward. He always backed down if you stood up to him. I see a lot of him in her but you don’t divorce your kids.

I think what we are seeing is the manifestation of the PROGRESSIVE gaslightin psychosis collapsing.
The attempt to alter everyone’s reality to fit their political ideology of themoment. Frinds and family rejecting all those things they have used to gain control; things we have been rejecting for 3 years. Their foundation is shifting and they can only las-out at those they cant convince of their “new reality”.
Those they still can control will attempt to de-escalate for the sake of; the children or the holidays or general peace.

These people are advancing deeper into their psychoses.

Let’s all remember the reason for the season.
That is a good point. When she had the granddaughter, she controlled us with threats. Now that the granddaughter is grown and she married my SIL, she tries to control him. I’m not as controllable now that I’m not protecting the granddaughter. She has never, and will never, admit fault for anything. She never apologizes. When her husband told her she was mean to people, she blew up. They came down here, she was talking about killing herself because he said it, and she asked me if she was mean to people. I told her yes. When she went home, she called her best friend and asked her if she was mean to people. She told her yes. My sister told her she was mean to people. Her own daughter told her she was mean to people. She had a really bad day. I pulled her husband aside and told him that none of this was his fault and he agreed. He’s really calm, sweet, and hates drama and confrontation. He’s so likeable that he is a customer service person at his job. He doesn’t deserve this.
The odd thing is, she’s a Trump supporter and admits that the virus is a bioweapon. Part of what is going on with her, I think, is that she has figured out the vax is poison too. None of us are allowing her to control us. She can’t handle it and since she can’t admit she’s ever wrong, she won’t admit she did the wrong thing taking the vax. To her, she’s the smartest one in the room and she’s never wrong. Everybody else is wrong.
Prayers for you all. She needs some serious help.

I lucked out. The granddaughter came down without my daughter, my SIL, and the Pitt mix. No dog fights today. I think she decided not to bring the Pitt because she bit my daughter. Dogs know.

On this very cold but beautiful Christmas Day, look at our Nation NOW on the Southern Border compared to only a short time ago during the Trump Administration.
