The family of a 21-year-old college student from Georgia is in mourning after he was killed by a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy in an officer-involved shooting over the weekend.
Isaiah Winkley, who was studying cyber security at Pensacola Christian College in Florida, died Saturday morning after Hancock deputies responded to a report of a burglary at 28030 Highway 603 in Kiln, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said in a release.

Entirely possible. I don’t know whether to hope it was a tragic misunderstanding or not.
Excellent example of how misunderstandings can happen. I knew a few people who were confronted by police and falsely accused, until the cops realized they’d made a mistake. Once, I was pulled over by a very jumpy cop, yelling to see my hands, because my car looked similar to a car in a hit-and-run.
We don’t know what happened in this case, yet, but it is possible a misunderstanding occurred.
Happened Dec. 10.
On Google maps, the property is on a rural highway in Mississippi. This young man lived in Georgia and went to college in Florida. Why was he in Mississippi on a Saturday morning when most students would be studying for their finals? Right now, there are too many unanswered questions. Hope the bodycam is released soon.

I was curious about that, too, but thought maybe he was visiting friends or relatives before going home to his immediate family in Georgia.
No, I meant what are your thoughts on what the kid was doing there? If he was burlgarizing the house, and shit went sideway, and got shot. I really have no sympathy for him at all.

Isaiah was buried on December 22. I would think that with the holidays over his family would now move forward with wanting to know why. I know his father Dwight and I am going to ask him tomorrow.
Because he wasn’t.
The very idea that he would be shot during the commission of a burglary the very next day is such Grade A 100% horse manure that I find your lack of sympathy downright offensive.
