Too gay for me.
1 & 2, perhaps the best sequel set of films ever produced by Hollywood. 3, not so much.
But definitely a sequel to be watched over and over, and just as good each time.
That scene is also a bookend with this one. I actually think this one is more powerful because it shows what is going on in Fredo’s head and how pathetic he really is. The big problem is, of course, that Michael is all out of sympathy for his brother.

That’s what confused me, so “the conversation” is another movie aside from Godfather?
IIRC he was married to Meryl Streep...
Me too. I’d go for a slap of death, like several of those little putch-putch face slaps...
“The Conversation” is a Gene Hackman movie. Kind of psychological and a bit hard to follow with a ‘60s type ending. Cindy Williams (SHorley Feeney), of all people, has a significant role.
Yup, I just looked it up. I have seen it before and it’s similar to Enemy of the state.
Both good movies.
We have the entire trilogy on dvd. The first two are masterpieces, the third one not so much, but still very good. We have watched them so much, I’ve been avoiding seeing them for a number of years, but you got me interested in watching them again.
Connie’s wedding reception at the very beginning of Pt. 1 reminds me of weddings I attended as a small child.
Years ago when we went to Vegas, we actually met the late Al Ruscio, who was in Pt. 3. He and his wife were VERY nice.
I think they were “an item” instead of married...but, much to her credit, she stayed with him to the bitter end.
“Connie’s wedding reception at the very beginning of Pt. 1 reminds me of weddings I attended as a small child.”
James Caan didn’t want to do the scene where he smashed a reporter’s Speed Graphic to the ground, because he was a major camera collector...they had to convince him it was just a heavily-altered prop.
yup, RIP
More Godfather trivia! Awesome!
I gotta add, I’m pretty sure even though they were Sicilian, none of my relatives were in the Mafia, although my dad’s dad DID shoot someone once.
The best thing for I and II is the saga which has never been released on DVD and has all kinds of stuff that was never in the original films. I was able to buy the VHS version on eBay a few years ago and a decent price.
I just read that scene was improvised by Caan and was never in the script like that.
The three Corleone brothers were effectively the three nations of North America: Michael was the US: intelligent, calculating and a bit full of himself, Sonny was Mexico, the rough and reckless, but funny one, Fredo, well, Fredo was Canada…
bump
