(The Center Square) - California is launching a universal basic income pilot program, Governor Gavin Newsom’s office announced.California is launching its Guaranteed Income Pooled Fund. The program is, “a philanthropic endeavor to help organizations fund their Guaranteed Income Pilot Programs by helping pilot projects unlock more than $25 million in grants from the state,” according to the release.
“As people across the country struggle with global inflation, this guaranteed income pilot program provides some much-needed support and breathing room for the most vulnerable Californians,” Newsom said in the press release. “This public-private partnership will accelerate our ability to get money to these individuals and families, showcasing Californians coming together to support one another.”
Under the program, the Pooled Fund will support guaranteed income pilot projects that need additional resources to launch, sustain, or enhance their pilot.
These pilot projects will collectively serve more than 1,975 Californians – primarily former foster youth and pregnant women – by providing them with $600 to $1,200 per month, for 12 to 18 months, according to the release.
To receive state funding, pilot project awardees must match 50% or more of the State’s award.
Contributors to the pooled fund include the Sierra Health Foundation, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, California Wellness Foundation, Blue Shield of California Foundation, May and Stanley Smith Charitable Trust, and the Weingart Foundation. The state expects further contributions from other organizations.
California Wellness Foundation Vice President of Programs Lori Cox said it’s vital to run tests to see if a universal basic income could benefit society.

The Teeny Toddlers take that crap they talk on “da intanet” very seriously. Don’t “dis” da little bass turds whatever you do.
We already have this program, nationwide.
It’s called “Welfare.”
If they institute this bullshit, it will be forever. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near California if they ever decide to end the program or when the money runs out.
That’s what I always wonder about when they talk about these guaranteed income programs. Does anyone consider that these poor people who are supposed to receive the guaranteed income are already eligible for a whole host of Public Assistance programs?
And then I wonder if the individuals who received the guaranteed income is that over and above and on top of whatever Public Assistance they benefit from?
And then I wonder does anyone who’s giving out free money care what these individuals spend that money on? Or are we not supposed to ask what people spend that on? If they spend this money foolishly it would seem like it was a waste to give people this guaranteed income.
Vote buying and the road to subservience to Big Brother on steroids.
Imagine the extra cash people would have if 99% of all government was eliminated?
Apparently the majority of people voted for all this so they must think they are going to get a piece of the pie.

About 2,352,000 black Californians.
Read where commission recommends $300,000,000 per black person.
That works out to be over $705,000,000. What could go wrong? And how many new blacks will they have if they really start this?
Regardless of the numbers, it’s blatantly unconstitutional.

When will these Most Vulnerable Californians be able to make contributions to society equal or greater than the amount being spent to fund the UBI? Or are they like tropical fish in an aquarium, taken care of so their progressive owners can brag to their peers about how pretty they are?
