Federally illegal, and third generation, a business built on criminal enterprise. Should be closed, jailed.

The ban on Farm to Table is what killed it. If you could sell it directly, you would make a killing. But the Elites don’t want that. The big producers pay the politicians.

It doesn’t take much to grow pot outdoors, just good weather and lots of water. The real cost is in the processing. Then there is the drying process, if it’s hung dried it virtually free as it is just hung-over drying line in cool dry location or machine dried (expensive). Good Bud trimmers can demand $100/hour and its time-consuming work. They make automatic bud trimmers, but they need to be managed so it’s not destroying too much of the bud.

“If this were any other legal business, if the price goes from $2,000 to $300 the government would be in to support those businesses and help prop them up.

TVs used to be expensive but now are really cheap. I don't remember the gov stepping in and helping out.

Pot went for about $10 a gram for decades in Canada and hashish for about $15 per gram... Since legalization, prices have dropped to $5 and less per gram... Illegal pot stores undercut government owned stores by more than 50% and if you’re a pot smoker, it’s like Christmas every day of the week. The government hasn’t made any money selling pot, and even their suppliers (who they heavily subsidized) are now selling pot to the illegal stores... Most of which operate on indigenous reservations.

The net result... The government has made no money on the legalization of pot... Illegal sales are still the cornerstone of the market, so the idea that legalization would decrease crime was also a bust... There is already a war between biker gangs and natives over pot sales... And many of the stores are caged, armed and ready for any would be robbers or police raids.

But if like pot, and you like it cheap... You are in marijuana heaven.

“some pot is selling for as little as $100 a pound”

Good, this means that the NARCO cartels will not be involved in this drug anymore.

Welcome to non contraband farming/agriculture Mr Wheeler.
The pricing of your crop is going to be a little bit different moving into the future.

The marijuana market is completely saturated with many growers and a huge supply of inventory. Look for more “Green outfits” to tank over the next two years.

MULTIPLE 3rd generation farmers in the triangle and lost coast.

Likely hundreds.

A man used to be able to make 75-100k per year on 3 acres.

No more.

If the cartels don’t burn you out/harvest your crop, you can only get 4-500 per pound.

It’s completely reformulating dozens of communities.

3rd generation?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerald_Triangle

Growers have been cultivating Cannabis plants in this region since the 1960s, during San Francisco's Summer of Love. Growing cannabis in the Emerald Triangle is considered a way of life, and the locals believe that everyone living in this region is either directly or indirectly reliant on the cannabis industry.[3]
