I was homeless and desperate — now I’m taking NYC’s pizza scene by storm
New York Post ^ | December 14, 2022 | Alex Mitchell

Hakki Akdeniz is the owner of Champion Pizza, with six shops across New York City and Long Island. He boasts nearly 29 million followers on Instagram as well as celebrity fans like Mike Tyson and Courteney Cox. Not long ago, however, Akdeniz, 42, was homeless and desperate on the streets of NYC.

Whether the animated Akdeniz knows a person or not, crossing paths with this Turkish immigrant-turned-total NYC character entails being showered with greetings, food and the occasional reminder that God is indeed great — all before a guest can get a single word in.

The pizza man’s meteoric rise is captured in the new documentary, “Hi… I’m Hakki Akdeniz,” out this Friday on Discovery+.

The secret to incredible NYC pizza is the water.
Not the stuff from the East River, but their tap water comes fresh and clear from the far away Catskill mountains. High mineral content = great pizza crust.

Although I've long lived in Los Angeles, I'm a native New Yorker

Two formerly great American cities that have turned into demonRAT run shitholes.

When the murderous scum that are running loose in these places kill some high profile stars/TV talking heads/politicians/ etc, maybe there will be some changes, but I doubt it, they are too far gone.

“and the occasional reminder that God is indeed great “ -— Nicer way of saying what they like to say before killing us?

Kurdish Christians want to kill us? Wow! Who knew!

The water also makes great bagels.

I learned a lot from your post.
An interesting topic presented in a timed based, logical way.
Would make a good documentary.
You can guess what food would be served hot at the premiere of that documentary. Michael Moore could be interested. One never knows.

Not to belittle the man’s accomplishments, he made it in NYC, a place that is very business unfriendly place.

But we must remember all of the tax advantages that immigrants have over US citizens.

A US citizen in the same position as this immigrant would have been at a great disadvantage and would most likely not have succeeded with the same effort or at least not have succeeded to the same extent.

“...there’s a lesson there for all the Generation Z types.”

Boomers - “I can’t believe I wore bell bottoms.”

Gen-X “I can’t believe I wore my hair like that.”

Millennials “I can’t believe I was Emo/Goth.”

Gen-Z “I can’t believe I cut my d*ck off.”

What tax advantages? As far as I know, LPRs are treated exactly the same as USCs for all tax purposes.
