So reminds me of the peak oil mania that was rampant a decade plus ago....

The reason why we will never run out of oil is because we are learning to make dinosaurs. We make dinosaurs and, when they die, they turn into oil.
It’s the hydrocarbon cycle.

Plastic bags are already being converted into diesel fuel and home heating oil in a plant in Groveton, New Hampshire.
Ten percent of the home heating oil I buy is from that plant.
My System 2000 boiler has never run as clean as it has since the recycled plastic has been in the mix.
Almost no ash to clean out.

For decades, it was assumed that crude oil was a finite resource in the ground and it would take millions of years for nature to replace it. Recent evidence is showing the earth produces oil at a greater rate than humans can consume it. So much for peak oil.

that’s a heck of an article.
thanks for that.

Only anti-American POTUS and Congress can make us run out of oil
But we can always get it from Russia and China in the future.
Make Russia and China great again.

Worrying about running out of oil is about as sensible as worrying about running out of
buggy whips.

It would have been interesting had I any interest to enter geology decades ago, as all this is old hat to a distinct minority of that era.
I suspect that they had evidence of this since before I was born; some would label that under conspiracy theory.
But I also believe that Trump should have been president...

Government control of commodities is always catastrophic. There can be no sensitivity, no balance, no sophistication. Government is a battering ram. It only knows how to destroy. The new army of armed revenuers will prove the case. The entire middle class will be destroyed by this war on income.

We are always running out of oil and coal!
I remember reading some old paper (about 100 years old), where they estimated world oil reserves lasting for about 20 years and coal for about hundred.
About forty years ago, one of the smartest man I have ever met, explained to me that there is no economical sense of exploring for more then 15-20 years ahead.
So forever, since Rockefeller times, we have had 20 years of world oil reserves!

Oil is a gift of our Creator God, intended for our use. He knows exactly how much we will need.
Jesus returns before we run out of usable petroleum. Drill, baby, drill.

It all comes down to energy. With energy you can make compounds . The elements , with rare exceptions , are eternal but energy turns to useless heat. The sun turns 4 million tons of matter into pure energy every second. Most of that energy just beams out into the Universe unused. We have a long way to go before we have any real shortages.

Article is Hogwash. IMO. We will run out of anything non-renewable if we use it fast enough. Sure we can extend a resources use with new discoveries, recycling etc. I can take you to counties in Ky that used to equal oil production in some of the rich areas in Texas. Now they are depleted. Or look at natural gas. There is a field in Indiana known as the Trenton field. It was so incredibly rich they named the local town after it—-Gas City. It also had oil, Standard Oil was founded there. The people had so much gas they wasted it horribly. They used to burn huge quantities of it to simply collect the carbon residue (coal will suffice) and make rubber products. Today the field has little production. Pic is of people wasting the Trenton gas at horrible rates in 1889..simply burning it off so they could get at a little oil underneath. Something that incredibly still going on in other fields today.
Look at the production graph for oil on Kentucky. It peaked almost a lifetime ago and has been steadily falling since.

I was taught, as a fact, in college in 1979 that the world’s oil would be gone by the year 2000.
