The mom took to Reddit to reveal an airplane passenger confronted her for having her toddler in first class — was she wrong to do that?
After an airline passenger allegedly accosted a woman because she had her toddler in the plane's first-class section, the anonymous mom took to Reddit to ask others if it was wrong of her to book first-class plane tickets for her young child — and people chimed in.
The Reddit user, One-Criticism5777, turned to the "Am I the A******" subreddit on Saturday, Nov. 26. She said a male passenger accused her of sitting in the wrong boarding class on purpose — and that he went on to call her a derogatory term.
The mother said she and her husband had "decided to splurge" on their cross-country flight for Thanksgiving. They booked a first-class ticket for their nearly 3-year-old daughter, who was traveling with them.

It’s important that children are taught how to behave and conduct themselves. That includes getting around safely on trains, subways, buses, etc. My youngest went to Europe on her own when she was 17. She traveled all over, backpacked, stayed in hostels and so on. She navigated home with an unexpected stop in nyc because of a flight delay. It turned into a weekend and she took Amtrak home instead of taking the final flight home. That didn’t require any help from me, although she did call me when her plans changed. I don’t worry a bit with her travels, although her mom is still getting used to it even after a couple trips per year over the last ten years.
I would be upset paying for first class to have a toddler or baby in the same cabin. I paid for the peace and quiet.
oh you poor baby....
More like a bag of chips or corn nuts and an alcoholic drink - at least my CLT to NYC or MIA flights are normally just that. You do get a blah tasting dinner if flying across the country.
Paris Hilton, or more likely Clone of AOC.
It’s not fun in economy either, arguably less so, with even less space. I fly about 50 segments a year, including 3-4 r/t international flights to europe. The flights to Europe or Asia in biz class are very nice with the lay down flat seats but after a brief period of being “cheap” at $2-$3k r/t, they are back to $10k+ now - more than before.
we have become an anti child entitled society and no wonder we have such a mess of a culture....
people have children, and thank God they do....
I'd rather sit next to a child then some smelly old fart and btw, those old farts are sometimes incontinent as much as a baby.....
you pay your money you should be able to sit where ever the hell you want.....
First class - any class - should be for those able to afford the price of a ticket. If one pays the price, they get to ride. Also, I have flown first class recently and it is not what it used to be.
I took a flight the day after Thanksgiving and I had a lone mother in front of me with a little toddler that screamed for several minutes....
so what did I do?....I offered to help her in any way and I carried her bag off the plane for her....
THAT's what people do, at least used to....
so many people have become intolerant jerks.....
You really are a worthless prik.
Airline outrage: Humblegunner reportedly tells mom in first class she shouldn’t be there with a child
Agree 100%.
Yes, he is - but the good news is that he apparently hasn't reproduced. People like Humble should get a medal for not inflicting the world with more like him.
Not if you fly first class all the time—I do.
I pay extra so I don’t have some screaming brat impose themselves on everybody.
Parents contribute greatly to the suffering in any class.
All I want is peace and quiet.
People like Humble should get a medal for not inflicting the world with more like him.
Homosexuals cannot reproduce.
If the mother followed the rules of the airline, then the other passenger is absolutely out of line!
- signed, a 100K mile passenger (in several years).
My 4 year old daughter earned Gold on American in 2018, and continues at that level. She gets a 1st class seat about 1/4 of the time, and has had transpacific business class 3 times. Never had a complaint against her, she is well behaved.
People are spoiled and entitled.
Kids are good, but annoying sometimes .
Good the mom has kids and travels with them
The complaining passenger was out of line. He complained as soon as he saw the child. He complained to airline staff several times even though the child was quiet and well behaved.
In general, parents shouldn’t take kids to places where they might disturb others. But a plane is public transportation. You have to put up with it.
And a lot depends on the child. Child #1 we could take to a fancy restaurant (not regularly, but for a family birtday dinner) and he behaved impeccably. Couldn’t do that with child #2. There were a few times I left McDonald’s and Denny’s when child #2 started fussing. IMO, it’s not right to disturb other diners even at a fast food place.
Wasn’t there something a few years ago about people that take up more than 1 seat, they have to pay for the other seat too?
