Cowboys star rips Biden over Brittney Griner release, walks back scathing tweets
Fox News ^ | 12/08/2022 | Joe Morgan

Posted on 12/08/2022 9:14:31 AM PST by simpson96

The world woke up Thursday morning to the news that WNBA star Brittney Griner had been released from Russian custody roughly 10 months after being arrested for bringing vape cartridges containing hashish oil through a Moscow airport.

Griner was freed from a Russian penal colony in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News.

Notably, the prisoner swap left another U.S. citizen in Russian custody.

Paul Whelan, a retired U.S. Marine veteran, was not involved in the exchange. Whelan was sentenced to 16 years in 2018 for espionage charges.

Whelan’s absence in the deal did not go unnoticed by Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons.

"Wait nah!! We left a marine?!! Hell nah," Parsons posted to his Twitter account.

(snip)

"We still not voting for you!" Parsons said in a now-deleted tweet.

As the tweet went viral, Parsons deleted his criticism of Biden, posting an explanation and an apology for tweeting "out of emotion."

"Just spoke to some people that I respect and trust. I should have been more educated on the topic and not tweeted out of emotion for my family and other who have served. For that I apologize," Parsons posted to Twitter.

"Also if what I’m told about the attempts to bring Ret Marine Paul Whelan home are true then the best outcome was accomplished. I pray Mr. Whelan comes home but am extremely happy for Brittney and her family. I am not too prideful to admit when I’ve made a mistake."

Spoiled drug addicted enemies of our nation are more important than patriots who put their life on the line. Got it.

I think I hate these cowards who speak the truth then roll over on their backs, pee on themselves and walk it back even moreso than the leftists who threaten them with loss of jobs.

We see the Biden priorities:

1 - a less-safe world
2- trading a truly bad guy for a hash-smoking, American-hating, Lesbian Reprobate.
3- Leaving a US Marine as a political prisoner (he was accused of “spying”, you know - the classic Russian, Chinese, NK charge when they kidnap someone as a political hostage).

Biden is just building his overwhelming case as the worst President ever...

“What mistake? “

The “mistake” is not being sufficiently celebratory that a lesbian stoner of color (just about the best thing someone could possibly be) is returning to our blessed nation.

Perhaps if a few black celebrities shamed Joe, he could figure out how to get the man home.

My guess is the NFL and/or the Cowboy Organization told him to apologize or look for a new job.

Yeah probably.

I think a lot of Trump. I don't think in an era of Russia, Russia, Russia that he really had much pull with...wait for it... Russia.

Careful there Micah, Griner is a negro, lesbian, drug user, female athlete, all categories for protected class of humans. Whelan is just a member of our military and all of them are expendable to the dnc criminal enterprise.

No chance his job was in jeopardy - he has a crapload of quarterback sacks and is high on the list to be defensive player of the year. If JJ fires him, JJ’s next act should be to step in front of a speeding bus. That or some fan will take care of it for him. Better to go out on your own terms ...

As bad as Bill was - in overall damage done - he did less damage than many of the others on the list (arguably, Carter was still worse).

President Trump had the opportunity free Whelan while he was in office.

This is true. What efforts did Trump make? What are Trump's public statements regarding Whelan?

A search of the archived Trump White House website turns up only one reference to Whelan: in a response to a reporter's question on 1/6/2019 Trump answered: "Yeah, we're looking into that."

There are also news reports from June 2019 of Whelan in Moscow, pleading for Trump to bring up his 'kidnapping' to Russia on Twitter. There is no record of Trump having done so while he was on that platform.

This is nuts. I've scoured the internet for anything Trump had to say about Whelan and came up with nothing other than the aforementioned "we're looking into that".

It's very odd IMO, considering Trump used his POTUS power and media access to compel the release of several other Americans from foreign prisons during his term in office. Even that Rapper "ASAP Rocky".

Hi.

“President Trump had the opportunity free Whelan while he was in office.

You are correct.

President Trump wouldn’t let a “Merchant of death,” loose. Maybe if Trump would have gotten a Persian hostage or two in the deal, maybe Whelan could have had freedom back then?

Who knows? Ask Putin.
