Mars should be good.

the 2030 Winter Olympics host city after discussing climate change and sustainability during its executive board meeting on Tuesday

Well if that’s one of the conditions then it should be the Zoom Olympics. No need to move 7 to 8 million people around the planet!

Oh, pick somewhere in the Arctic and be done with it. How about Svalbard, Norway?

Nah, take the Winter Olympics back to Squaw Valley.

Interesting name. Ha. I didn't know about the Olympics. Read up about it. That's what it should be. A fun occasion. Maybe it'll return to its beginnings now the luster is gone.

The ice arena was allowed to collapse decades ago.

The Squaw Valley Winter Olympics were from a different era when things were a lot simpler. Wiki synopsis:
The IOC awarded the 1960 Olympics to Squaw Valley, United States. It was an undeveloped resort in 1955, so from 1956 to 1960 the infrastructure and all of the venues were built at a cost of US$80,000,000 ($565 million in 2022 dollars!) The opening and closing ceremonies were produced by Walt Disney. The Squaw Valley Olympics was the first Winter Games to have a dedicated athletes' village, the first to use a computer (courtesy of IBM) to tabulate results, and the first to feature female speed skating events. The bobsleigh events were absent for the only time due to a minimal number of nations expressing interest in competing and the cost of building a bobsleigh run.
Can you just imagine the ceremonies that Walt Disney Corp would create today? It would be nonstop homos, trannies and drag shows.

Just a bit of refurbishment and rebuilding. Nothing to it.

I wonder if they’re planning to have the Olympics before or after the end of the world.

Cancel the Winter Olympics? Move them to Antarctica?

I was there in 2002 for the SLC Olympic Games. Would love to see it return. I was in the arena when Sarah Hughes won the gold in women’s figure skating. I would like it even better in Calgary

That said- it would still be huge amounts of money even for cities with the infrastructure

I know that, of course. They would have to bring back the name.

“Climate Change”

Sure. And it has nothing to do with which city will pay the biggest bribes to IOC officials. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is hosted in Dubai.

It’s -36 degrees in Yakutsk, Russia; it’s supposed to be -48 tomorrow:

They could put ski slopes in the nearby Verkhoyansk Range. Normally it is too cold there to go outside in winter so there aren’t any slopes yet.

This is the IOC’s spot!

But if climate change activists are to be believed soon monkeys, parrots, flamingos, palm trees and other tropical fauna and flora will flourish there.

Reuse the site for the 1976 Denver Winter Olympics. Oh, wait, they were awarded them but when the people saw the cost estimates climbing they had a referendum to stop spending on it.

That was a major case of butthurt for the supporters who way you underbid it expecting that once the snowball was rolling something minor like massive cost overruns wouldn't stop it

The IOC need not worry about the 2030 Olympics. It likely ain’t gonna happen.

NATO (oops, Ukraine, wink, wink)’s continued attacks on parts of Russia’s nuclear triad, are likely to result in a nuclear exchange.

Ukraine’s drone attack on a strategic nuclear base, no matter how small the destruction, WILL BE viewed by the Russians, as a NATO attack on their nuclear trial.

The question is NOT what the Ukraine’s (NATO’s) goals were, regarding the attack, what is IMPORTANT is what the Russians PERCIEVE of the attack.

Right now, we are in more dangerous territory than the Cuban missile crisis, by far!

Maranatha!
