Gunrunner, never-charged criminal, political hack, and perpetually aggrieved former attorney general Eric Holder is back, bloviating about President Trump being imminently arrested. Given that we live in post-Republic times and that the Department of (in)Justice has exhibited no shame or remorse in its years-long campaign of political persecution and partisan double-standards, I'll take Obama's contemptible "wingman" at his word just this once. So Democrats, Establishment Republicans, and the Deep State Leviathan plan on humiliating President Trump by frog-marching him before the world and tossing him in the clink.
So what? They've been telegraphing this play for months, if not years. We get it. The U.S. government is irredeemably corrupt, we've officially entered banana republic territory, and all the worst tyrants in D.C. plan on rounding up and punishing anyone brave enough to fight back or dissent.
News flash, Deep State: You kind of got your point across when Hillary Clinton's political henchmen and Barack Obama's FBI (political henchmen with badges?) worked with the Intelligence Community to frame candidate Trump as a Russian spy six years ago and none of the perpetrators ended up in prison. You made things quite clear when you gave tens of millions of dollars to Andrew Weissmann to run the Mueller Inquisition, so that he and his Democrat friends could pave over the lawless bureaucracy's Russia Hoax tracks; harass the Trump administration in pursuit of nonexistent crimes; and immunize Hillary, the FBI, and their political agents from prosecution. If the democRATs feared the same tactics being used against them, they would probably stop most of this. But the chances of the Republicans paying them back is zero.
They talk about “our democracy” but they ought to use the proper term: “banana republic”.
If the Democrats are successful at framing Trump, they’ll do the same thing to DeSantis or whoever else emerges as an opponent. This is not a one off operation. The end goal is one party rule.
It boggles the mind how fast we've imploded.

At a minimum DeSantis wouldn’t have the money to defend himself. Trump must be spending a fortune on lawyers. I’m surprised he hasn’t set up a defense fund.

Perhaps the Republicans won’t pay them back, but if they succeed then the contract is over. I don’t think they are really ready for that.
So true. I was trying to explain this to Mr K (not the one on this forum) yesterday in fact: I pray that Governor Ron is intelligent enough not to fall for the bait he’s being offered to war on DT. First, DT will not treat him gently - I mention this a lot, but the way he trimmed Ted Cruz down to size made me feel sorry for Senator Cruz. And, you know, all the stuff that gets brought up in a battle like that is sure to encourage the enemy.
Secondly, if Governor Ron DOES get the nomination, they will then turn on him and destroy him. The guy is not popular with the Left (duh) and the GOP will be too timid to support him. Suddenly EVERYBODY WILL HATE HIM. Down he’ll go. Thus the Republican party will be effectively castrated. (It’s missing one-and-a-half ba11s already.)

Well, Trump is being persecuted for representing MAGA people. I would contribute to a defense fund. Besides, the next MAGA rep might not have the resources to fend off a persecution.
