I’ve always believed that whoever came up w/the idea of HOAs for single family homes was a commie laying the ground work for their system over here.
In commie world, everyone has to go to their local commisar, or what not, for their state supplied goodies - they decided who among the community was the next to get a television for example.
The HOA board would be the logical choice of commisar committee once communism was fully implemented in the US.
No HOA in my neighborhood. I can park on my front lawn if I choose. I don’t, but some of my neighbors do. No one cares. It’s great! And it’s a really nice neighborhood where we enjoy freedom from harassment.
The targets should have fought the complaint by pointing out the other longtime, non-compliant decorations and asking for a variance for themselves and all others. They could have also asked for a review and mediation by the State of Florida. My guess is that they would have won.
I say eff em. Give it some time and put the cranes back. Add in a pink flamingo 🦩 for some ‘diversity’. Or hang the LGBTQ rainbow flag on them.
Any complaints tell them it’s discrimination. When they back down remove the fruity colored symbol. Fight back.

I would never live in a neighborhood with an HOA or in a condo. You do not own the property you inhabit if there is an HOA. The HOA owns it. They can tell you minutely what you may or may not do with it and anything on it and many HOA officials glory in their neighborhood power and use it to prove they have it.
